A very nice customer install photo taken by S.D. of Middleville, Michigan showing off his Chevy Impala bike rack that is configured with the Yakima HoldUp hitch mount bike rack mounted to a 1-1/4" trailer hitch receiver. A great alternative to a Chevrolet Impala roof bike rack setup. No having to lift the mountain bikes up onto the roof every time. Simply place each bicycle in the Yakima Hold Up bike trays and ratchet down the clamping arm onto the front wheel. A fantastic setup S.D.!

Check out this perdy customer install photo sent by B.L. of Dunellen, New Jersey showing off his 2005 Honda Civic roof rack and canoe carrier system. Getting to and from the boat launch has never been easier and and the set up just plain looks good to boot! Components include the Yakima Q Towers, 2 pairs of Yakima Q112 clips and pair of 48 inch round bars. Mounted to the Q Tower system is the Yakima Gunwale Brackets canoe rack. D.L. of South Burlington, Vermont has the perfect setup for the easiest loading and unloading of kayaks on a car roof top. Her Saab 9-5 kayak roof racks and roller system is configured with a Yakima HullRaiser j-cradle style kayak rack and 2 pairs of Yakima Mako Saddles attached to a Saab aftermarket car rack that is, itself, mounted to the Saab 95 factory rack side rails. The Yakima ShowBoat roller is also connected to the base rack system. All D.L. has to do is extend out the roller when loading and unloading the kayaks for easy one person loading and unloading. Then she retracts the ShowBoat roller into its stored position when not in use. Just perfect D.L.!

Check out this nifty customer installation from J.T. of Madison, New Jersey featuring a 2009 Nissan Versa roof rack system. Components included on this setup are the Thule 400XT Aero car rack using the Thule 2183 Fit Kit clips and lb50 50" load bars. With this multi-purpose base rack system mounted to the car top he is ready to attach any gear carriers for transporting anything from skis & snowboards and bikes to kayaks, a canoe or surfboards. His 2006 Subaru Forester kayak rack system includes the Yakima BowDown kayak carrier mounted directly to his Subaru Forester factory rack crossbars. Save some money by not having to replace the factory rack with an after-market multi-purpose base rack system and also have plenty of space left on the crossbars to attach other gear carriers. Those canadians sure know how to do it! Check out this customer installation by R.C. of Ontario, Canada demonstrating how to outfit a 2008 Saturn Vue roof rack for bikes and a hitch mount cargo box for luggage and gear. Components used for this configuration are the Thule 665C Transporter Combi hitch box mounted to the receiver hitch, Thule 450R Rapid Crossroad roof rack system attached to the 2008 Saturn Vue factory side rails and 2 Thule 598 Criterium bike racks connected to the Rapid Aero load bars (a set of Thule Xadapt 8 kits is required for use with each bike rack for mounting to the Rapid Aero load bars) on the 450R Rapid Crossroad base rack system. If you are lucky enough to be searching for kayak rack to transport a couple of kayaks on a pickup truck that has factory rack crossbars, you'll be psyched you came across this customer install photo by T.B. of Meadville, Pennsylvania. His 2008 Toyota Tacoma kayak rack system consists of the Inno INA450 Kayak Rack Stacker mounted directly to the Toyota Tacoma double cab factory rack crossbars. The Inno Racks INA 450 is compatible with all styles of kayaks, and the included cradle stoppers make it very easy to load each kayak and steady them in place so you can use both hands to tie the kayaks down. Another great setup for carrying kayaks. These are from R.V.M. of Boston, Massachusetts and feature his 2007 Ford Focus 5-door roof rack setup for carrying 2 kayaks. He says the first trip was a great success from Boston to Provincetown and back! His configuration includes the Yakima Q Towers car rack multi-purpose base rack system, which attaches to the 2007 Ford Focus roof top using 2 pairs of Yakima Q102 clips (included with the Yakima Q Tower roof rack system). He then mounted two sets of Yakima BowDown kayak racks to the crossbars. He has plenty of room to carry the 2 kayaks on the short 48 inch length cross bars because the j-cradle style kayak racks use up less crossbar space and carry the ckayaks cradled on their sides.Very nice R.V.M.!

We are very proud that A.V. of Montreal, Quebec made the trip down to our warehouse headquarters for his Fleetwood Tonka pop up camper roof rack installation. His congfiguration is the Thule 430 Tracker II roof rack system, which includes the Thule 430 Tracker II Foot Pack, TK1 Tracker Kit and the LB96 96" bars. This system connects directly to the tracks that were factory installed on the roof of the FleetWood Tonka camper roof top. The 96 inch extra long cross bars are necessary for spanning across the very wide camper rooftop. A.V. now has plenty of room to attach all the carriers he needs for bringing along his sports gear and equipment when heading out for adventures with his popup camper!

Just received the following hilarious story from R.C. of Cornville, Arizona. He also sent pictures of his 2005 Scion xB roof rack setup for carrying bikes. His configuration includes the Yakima Q Towers car rack multi-purpose base rack system, which attaches to the 2005 Scion xB roof top using two pairs of Yakima Q121 clips and (included with the Yakima Q Tower roof rack system). He then mounted 4 Yakima 2085 Raptor bike racks to the Yakima Q Tower base rack system cross bars.

R.C. writes... "Four of my friends and I went on a little 100 mile road trip to ride our BMX bikes in Phoenix, Arizona. I had just installed my rack and we put four bikes on the roof and one in the back of my Scion xB. The day was perfect, we shredded the gnar all day and had a great time. When it was time to leave one of my buddies asked if we could go downtown to eat and have a drink at the bar. We all thought that was a great idea. When we got downtown there was no place to park. We searched and searched untill we finnaly found a spot. So I locked the bikes and we went in and had a couple drinks.

Well the drinks and food were so good that we ended up spending all the money we had left exept for gas to get home. We said goodbye to my friends sister and walked back to the car.... But the car was gone! It had been towed because I parked in the wrong spot. There was a small sign posted like twelve feet up and none of us saw it.

We then found out that we couldn't get our car back until 9:00am the next morning. We ended up sleeping in the streets. The next morning we had to take cab like thirty miles to where they said we could pick up the car. This costed us $30 that we didnt have. So we get to the towing company headquarters only to find out that we had to take another cab to where the car acually was. This was another $20 we didnt have on top of the $160 tow bill. I asked the tow company to give me a ride and they said "no way".

Finally we get to where the car was by 11:00am the next morning and there was no one around. So my friends and I being really frustrated and upset decided to hop the fence to see if there was anyone there. Maybe we had the wrong entrance to the yard or something. It's hard to think straight when you havent slept. Well there was no one around to help us and we did not know what to do. That's when the cops showed up and arrested us! We shouldn't have hopped the fence. Luckily the tow guy showed up and got us out of the buglary charges. After this all happened we were able to barely make it home on what gas we had left at around 3:00pm the next day. Moral of the story is: Don't ever get your car towed while on a road trip!"

Just recently received these fantastic photos from K.H. of Rochester, New York showing off his 2009 Hyundai Sonata roof rack setup for carrying a canoe. He chose to mount the Yakima RocketBox 15s cargo box directly to the 2009 Honda CRV factory rack crossbars. Perhaps the hottest new sport category is stand up paddle boarding. And K.E. of Grand Haven, Michigan shows just how to get it done when you want to carry your SUP on top of your car. Her configuration includes the Inno INA444 Locker attached directly to the Pontiac Vibe factory car rack crossbars. The Inno Racks INA444 is a superb SUP carrier and includes an integrated locking system to lock the stand up paddle board to the rack. J.M. of Scio, Oregon recently sent us these very nice photos of his 2008 Ford Escape roof rack setup for carrying a couple of kayaks. His configuration includes the Inno IN-FR car rack multi-purpose base rack system, which mounts to the 2008 Ford Escape factory siderails. He then connected the Inno INA450 kayak rack to the Inno IN-FR base rack system cross bars. GMVS has a fleet of Dodge Sprinter vans and has partnered with ORS Racks Direct to provide a ski rack solution for transporting skis on all the vans. R.C. of Tampa, Florida recently emailed us a couple great pictures of his Infiniti G35 hitch bike rack setup for a 1-1/4" inch trailer hitch receiver. He chose the Yakima DoubleDown 4. This is a fantastic choice for the Infiniti G35. No need to upgrade to the Yakima SwingDaddy because he can access the rear trunk no problem with the Yakima DoubleDown (the Yakima Swing Daddy swings-away off to the side for accessing rear hatch style doors). As you can see the arms fold down when not in use so there are no issues with pulling into a garage or parking spaces. And the RocSteady hitch tongue and threaded hitch pin ensure there is no rocking of the hitch bike rack. Fits both 2 inch and 1.25 inch hitches right out of the box, no extra adapters needed! Looks awesome R.C.!

G.S. of Grafton, Wisconsin was nice enough to send us this picture of his 2001 Ford Focus 'Street Edition' wagon roof rack setup for carrying a kayak. He is using the Thule 450 Crossroad roof rack system on the Ford Focus factory rack side rails and the Thule 881 Top Deck kayak rack. He also has a pair of Thule crossbar pads mounted to the bars in between the Thule 881 Top Deck kayak saddles to provide a cushion and protect the kayak hull. G.S. sums this configuration up well... G.D. of Petaluma, California just sent us some excellent pictures of his Subaru WRX car trunk rack and roof rack setup for carrying bikes. He is using the Saris Bones RS bike trunk rack and also the Yakima Lowrider car rack system with a couple of Yakima Viper fork mount bike racks. He says he is most excited about the Saris Bones RS car trunk rack because it only uses 2 straps to tighten the rack down and it locks to the Subaru WRX too. And the best part is he can open the rear hatch while the Bones RS is still attached. He says he never has to take the bike rack off and now he doesn't think he really needs the bike roof rack system at all. We love the Saris bones RS too G.D.!

R.L. of Ithaca, New York just emailed us a couple very nice shots of her Volvo 240 roof rack and ski carrier setup. She is using the Thule 300 Gutter Foot car rack system (attaches to the Volvo 240 raingutters) and the Thule 91724 Flat Top ski-snowboard rack (holds up to 4 pairs of skis and poles or 2 snowboards; also includes locks for locking the skis and snowboards inside the carrier). Just because you may own an older model (we prefer 'vintage') car that still has raingutters doesn't mean you can't install a car rack to carry your gear. And the Thule 300 is the perfect solution for raingutters. Very nice R.L.!

We just received a couple superb pictures from C.S. of Duluth, Minnesota showing her Subaru Outback kayak rack setup. She is using 2 sets of the SportRack ABR511 j-style kayak racks which mount directly to the Subaru Outback factory roof rack crossbars. Not only are these kayak carriers very affordable and easy to install and load the kayaks into the cradles, they also use up very little cross bar space so there is enough room to attach two of them for transporting two boats even on factory rack crossbars that aren't very long such as the Subaru Outback wagon roof rack factory bars. A wise choice C.S.!

K.O. of Reston, Virginia just sent us a great picture of his VW Touareg bike rack setup on the rear hatch door. He is using the premium Saris 805 Bones 2 strap-on bike rack system. We just received some cool pictures from S.B. of Charlotte, North Carolina showcasing his Jeep Liberty roof rack and kayak carrier. The system includes the Thule 450 Crossroad roof rack (mounts directly to the Jeep Liberty factory rack side rails) and the Thule 835PRO Hull-a-Port kayak rack. If you didn't notice the kayak rack right off when you saw the pictures that's because the kayak rack is in it's folded down position. R.P. of Cross Plains, Texas ponied up a couple of sweet pics showing off his custom install of a bike rack mounted to a trailer hitch basket rack on his Ford F-150. He is using the Thule 594 Side Arm bike rack, which is normally intended for use on a roof rack setup. However, he's cleverly mounted the 594 Sidearm to a pair of extension arms on the back of his hitch basket. D.B. of White River Junction, Vermont has just submitted some sweet pics of his 2006 Ford Escape roof rack and canoe, kayak & bike carriers installation. The setup includes the Yakima Control Towers car rack system that is attached to the Ford Escape factory rack tracks using the Yakima #1 Landing Pads. This replaces his incompatible and under load rated factory rack with a very rugged and durable multi-purpose base rack system that can handle the weight of the bike, kayak and canoe. The Yakima Copperhead bike rack, Yakima Gunwale Brackets canoe carrier and Yakima HullRaiser j-cradle style kayak rack are all attached to the Control Towers base rack cross bars. This is an excellent example of how you can outfit yourself with a slick roof rack system for carrying several different types of gear. The use of the HullRaiser is smart because it uses up less crossbar space than other kayak carriers that transport the kayak flat. So D.B. can carry all this stuff with the 58 inch length Yakima cross bars on the Control Towers system. Nice going D.B.!

We just scored some beautiful pics from P.M. of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin of her 2005 Mercury Mountaineer factory roof rack mounted kayak carrier installation. The setup includes the Yakima BowDown kayak rack. We cannot say enough good things about j-cradle style kayak carriers. Not only are they compatible with virtually all factory rack crossbars and also all styles of kayaks, they also take up much less room than traditional style kayak carriers that transport a kayak flat. J-cradle kayak racks use up much less crossbar space so you can add an additional carrier to factory racks for carrying a second boat. This is normally not possible with kayak racks that carry the boat flat. The premium Yakima BowDown includes exclusive features not found on other j-cradle style kayak carriers. The BowDown can optionally fold flat when not in use, ideal for low overhangs such as garages and also increased fuel efficiency. A.M. of Amherst, Massachusetts recently sent us some superb pics of her Subaru Forester roof rack and cargo luggage box installation. The setup includes the Yakima Locking EZ Rider car rack system and Yakima SkyBox 18 roof box. The Yakima EZ Rider system is specifically engineered to mount to low-profile factory rails such as those found on the Subaru Forrester. G.L. of Clarksville, Maryland recently sent us some superb photos of his 2008 Honda Pilot roof rack luggage gear bag installation. D.S. of Muncie, Indiana just emailed us a fine photo of his Chevy Silverado 2500 pickup truck rack installation. The setup includes the Thule 421 Xsporter truck rack system. A very cool setup because the truck rack can adjust to either the low position (shown in photo) or fully raised to the high position. This truck rack also has locks included to lock the system to the pickup truckbed rails. This is the ideal combination commercial utility truck rack & sport rack. The system includes the Thule 532 Ride-On factory rack adapter kit and a couple of older model Thule bike racks. This is a very good demonstration of how cost effective it is to use the Thule 532 Ride-On adapter on vehicles with factory racks when you want to attach a couple of roof mount bike racks. With the Thule 532 there's no need to have to replace the factory rack with a whole new after-market multi-purpose base rack system. Just attach the Thule 532 Adapter Kit to the factory bars and then connect the bike carriers of your choice to the Thule 532 load bars and you are ready to hit the road!

S.C. of Athens, Georgia has just emailed us a fine photo of her Volvo V70XC roof rack and kayak carriers installation. The setup includes the Yakima Lowrider roof rack system which attaches directly to the Volvo V70 XC factory rack side rails and 4 pairs of the Yakima Mako Saddles (2 pairs on the front Lowrider crossbar and 2 pairs on the rear crossbar for carrying two kayaks). This is an excellent universal system that works with all kinds of kayaks. Many people choose to pair the Mako Saddles on the front crossbar and the Yakima HullyRoller on the rear crossbar, a superb solution for effortlessly loading a kayak onto the rack. However if you don't anticipate any issues with getting the boat onto the roof then using 2 pairs of Mako Saddles instead is the perfect choice for a rock solid and snug fit for a kayak and absolutely worry free transport every time.
