The Yakima Raptor Bike Rack (8002085) transports a bicycle upright without having to take the front wheel off first. This budget-minded carrier grasps any bicycle type - road, mountain, women's, kids & bmx styles included - as long as the bike frame downtube is from 1" to 3" in diameter (virtually all bikes meet this measurement). Carrier attaches directly to Yakima base rack round crossbars or Inno Racks square bars & Thule Racks square load bars. Yakima Raptor also connects to factory installed car rack cross bars when used in combination with either Yakima Universal Mighty Mounts or Horizontal Mighty Mounts (both sold separately; see accessory add-ons below). Yakima lock core recommended (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to secure bicycle inside the carrier.
- Conveniently transport your bike without the hassle of removing the front wheel first.
- Accommodates any wheel size from 20 inches and larger in diameter.
- Fits a wide variety of bicycle frame shapes and sizes as long as the downtube is between 1" to 3" in diameter (virtually all bikes meet this requirement, including common makes of road, mountain, kids, women and bmx bike styles).
- Soft padded Raptor claw stradles the bike frame downtube with a rock-solid and firm grip but absolutely will not harm frame or finish.

Perfect for a growing child

As our boys grow, their bikes will obviously grow with them. This system works perfectly to eleminate the need for a new bike mount as their bikes get bigger. Since this mount doesn't utilize the front forks to mount, it doesn't matter how small or large the bike is, it will always work. And with a great price, you can't ask for anything more.

We have a dent in our mini-van rear hatch as the result of a hanging bike rack and wanted an alternative rack when camping. We now have 4 Raptors installed on the top of our Fleetwood pop-up trailer. An Inexpensive Bike Rack That Really Works

As far as classic upright bike carriers go, the Raptor is fine. It doesn’t have some of the newer upgrades that more modern upright racks have, but those are like twice as expensive and all you really need to do is carry your bike. Bottom line, it is a cheap bike rack that really works well, period.

Bike rack works equally well with most types of bicycles and is compatible with all disc-brake, thru-axle, Cannondale Lefty and other funky suspension designs.
For securing the bicycle inside carrier a Yakima SKS lock core is recommended (not included; see accessory add-ons above) to lock the locking knob (which requires the Yakima lock-core).
