We drove from Santa Cruz to Washington, all over the Olympic Peninsula and back home for a total of about 2800 miles. Some of the mileage was on freeways at 70 miles an hour, much was on bumpy dusty roads in the Hoh and Quinault Rain forests to get to perfect river spots and some was on the beaches in between, but the kayaks never came loose and one time shifted a total of about 1/2 inch was all. We love these racks, they pop right on and off the car in a few minutes and it was a breeze for me (a mom) and my 16 year old son. AWESOME!"
