The Malone Big Foot Pro Canoe Rack - MPG112MD is the most affordable, universal and reliable complete canoe carrier system available. The Malone BigFoot Pro offers the strongest four point canoe transport system on the market today. I bought these units to use on two different crossbars (one a SportRack atop an ARE topper and the other a Yakima round bars rack). They worked beyond expectations, making the canoe immobile on the crossbars and assuring safe transport. The rubber the canoe gunwale sits on keeps from scratching up woodwork.

I needed a mount that fit my factory cross bars (they are oval) and did not require buying a whole 'system'. The Malone Big Foot fit great and only took minutes to mount. If you have a narrow width canoe, the supplied 40 or 50mm bolts work great. I found with my Guide 147 it is a little wider, so I bought 60mm bolts so I could 'bump' the brackets outboard over the crossbar receiver. Mission accomplished! I have a great mounting system that did not force me to resort to foam blocks or take out a loan so I could buy one of the competitors solutions. Thanks ORS Racks Direct and Malone!

Chris asks - Can I carry 2 canoes side by side on a Chevy extended cab truck with the Bigfoot Pro canoe brackets?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, as long as your base rack cross bars are long enough. Typically you will need at least 66" or 78" length base rack cross bars when carrying two canoes side by side. You will just but a pair of brackets on the outer gunwales of each canoe, then strap both canoes down together.
Lisa B. asks - How much weight can this canoe carrier hold? Curious what the dimensions are of each bracket too.
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - Hey good questions. This canoe rack can hold up to 90 lbs. Also each L-bracket dimension is 5"(W) x 5.5"(L) x 4.5"(H). The padding on the brackets is natural rubber.
K-NINER asks - How do the JAWZ mounts work? I have thick crossbars and not sure if this will work on them.
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - Malone Racks has you covered for oversize factory crossbars too. the JAWZ includes two complete sets of 40mm and 50mm mounting bolts with T-knobs. You'll use the longer bolts with your oversize bars. The instructions manual outlines this for you.
Ed asks - I watched the video and it looks like a great solution for that particular Old Towne canoe. I'm concerned with my canoe(32" wide) there won't be enough room between the L brackets on my 2009 Toyota Highlander factory rack for my canoe( Bell Northstar 32")?
ORS Racks Direct crew answers - Yes that is a concern. You do need to measure how wide your factory bars are and compare that to the width of your canoe. Some configurations that have very wide canoes will be too wide , as the L-Brackets widest setting will be limited to the width of your factory crossbars. In your case you would need to install a base rack system such as the Inno INFR roof rack or Thule 450 Crossroad car rack to your 2009 Toyota Highlander roof rack side rails. You can then attach a canoe rack to the INFR bars.
M asks - I have a 2010 Mazda CX9 with factory rails and crossbars. Will this system be compatable? Also, I am carrying a Old Town Discovery 169 canoe (85lbs) this seems very close to the max weight capacity.
RACKDAWG answers - All systems go 'M', this canoe carrier is ideal as a 2010 Mazda CX-9 canoe rack and attaches to the factory cross rails. The carrier and your rails can also hold the weight of your Old Town canoe.
Ryan P. asks - I have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe with factory cross rails (or crossbars some people call them I think), and I'm worried about the rail thickness. Will this mount work for my car?
ORS Crew answers -This is a confirmed fit fot a 2003 Pontiac Vibe factory rack crossbars canoe rack. The only thing you will want to keep in mind is if your canoe is narrow enough to fit within the BigFoot Pro brackets on the factory bars. The brackets can attach all the way to the furthest outer area on the crossbars, but if the canoe is too wide you will have to first install a multi-purpose base rack system with longer cross bars. In this case. a good base rack is the Thule 450 Crossroad roof rack that quickly mounts to the Pontiac Vibe factory side rails. You can then select the length crossbars that will give you enough room to space the BigFoot Pro canoe brackets wide enough to fit the canoe. Your best bet is to measure the canoe's width at its widest point. Then measure the width of the factory bars and then subtract 6 inches (this gives you the true maximum width of the canoe rack placed on the factory bars.) If the measurement is less than the canoe width then you will need to install the Thule 450 Crossroad and select the appropriate length crossbars (you shouldn't need to go any longer than the 58 inch bar length).

Malone Big Foot Pro canoe rack is fully equipped to mount directly to virtually all factory rack cross bars as well as all styles of aftermarket roof rack systems including Inno Racks cross bars, Thule Racks load bars (square, oval Rapid Aero & Xsporter truck rack) & Yakima Racks round bars (for certain specific very large / oversized factory crossbars such as Nissan XTerra, the Malone MPG364 80mm long bolt kit is required; not included, see accessory add-ons above).
We recommend either the SteelCore lock straps, Canoe Lasso or the Lashlock canoe lock system (not included; see accessory add-ons above) to protect your boat from theft.
We highly recommend the Thule 854 Water Slide Mat (not included; see accessory add-ons above) for simultaneously protecting your vehicle and also gaining extra assistance when loading and unloading a canoe.
