The Malone SeaWing Kayak Rack (MPG107MD) features innovative kayak saddle v-cradles and transports all shapes and sizes of kayaks. The included universal mounting hardware allows the Malone Sea Wing kayak rack to quickly attach to all styles of aftermarket roof rack systems including Thule Racks load bars (square, oval Rapid Aero & Xsporter truck rack), Inno Racks crossbars and Yakima Racks round bars. Plus the two sizes of included attachment bolts allow the SeaWing kayak carrier to connect to virtually all factory rack cross bars (for certain specific very large / oversized factory crossbars such as Nissan XTerra, the Malone MPG364 80mm long bolt kit is required; not included, see accessory add-ons below).
The Malone SeaWing also solves the age-old dilemma...how to carry two kayaks flat and side by side on factory rack bars (please note that you will need to purchase another Malone SeaWing kayak rack setup to transport a second kayak rack). The Malone SeaWing is engineered with unique v-cradle center-point mounting on the kayak saddles, so each SeaWing kayak rack can mount much closer to the edge of the roof rack crossbars (crossbars are also strongest close to edge too). If you want to transport a second kayak you can simply mount a second pair of Malone SeaWing kayak saddles close to the edge on the other side of the base rack crossbars, providing enough room to carry both kayaks flat and side by side without any interference. This is simply not normally possible with leading competitors' models on factory racks or after-market base rack systems without having to get longer cross bars.
For easiest kayak loading & unloading we highly recommend the Malone Stinger kayak lift assist (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below).
The v-cradle mid-point kayak saddle mounting design of the Malone SeaWing uses up far less base rack crossbar space than other leading competitors kayak rack models that transport a kayak flat, providing plenty of room to attach other gear carriers at the same time, including an extra Malone Sea Wing kayak carrier if you plan to haul two kayaks. Compatible with any kayak style including recreational, whitewater, ocean / sea kayaks etc. Includes front and rear Malone SeaWing v-cradle saddles, all universal mounting hardware (including 2 sets of attachment bolt sizes for any crossbar shape), two 12' heavy-duty cam-buckle load straps, two bow & stern safety tie-downs and detailed install instructions. No tools required for installation!

Easy Install, Secure and Quiet

The Malone Seawing rack installed easily and quickly to Yakima's round standard bars. They remain tightly secure even after a season of use. There is enough give in the system to form somewhat around the hull of the kayak and create a very secure grip. Water does not seem to effect the gripping action whatsoever. On short trips I simply use the nylon straps provided with the rack to hold my kayak and don't even bother with bow and stern lines. About the only negatives I have found are that the V shape of the carrier forces a person to lift the kayak higher than some racks to get it in place and the nylon straps can get twisted easily since they double up over the kayak.

Regina asks - How much weight can this kayak carrier hold? Also what are the dimensions of the kayak saddles?
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - Holds up to 70 lbs. and up to 32" wide kayaks. Saddle dimensions are 6"(W) x 27"(L) x 5"(H).
ORS Racks Direct Crew says - Malone Racks work great on oversize factory crossbars too. Includes two complete sets of 50mm and 60mm mounting bolts with T-knobs. You'll use the longer bolts with oversize bars. The instructions manual outlines this for you.
Shawn asks - Will the mounting brackets fit on the square or round tubing of my HeadAche rack that's on my pickup truck?
Yes, however even the supplied longer 60mm mounting bolts will possibly be too short. Test the 60mm bolts first, if too short you can use the Malone MPG364 80mm Long Bolts Kit.
JWH445 asks - Will the universal adapters included with this carrier work with Lexus factory crossbars? They are elliptical in shape, approx. 2.5 inches wide x 1 inch tall.
ORS Crew answers - Yes this is a Malone Racks confirmed and sanctioned fit, works as a great Lexus kayak rack and attaches directly to the factory crossbars (your 2.5 inches wide x 1 inch tall measurements fall well within the compatibility range). In general, the JAWZ universal adapter brackets fit any cross rails under 4” wide. And carriers using the JAWZ mounting brackets include at least two different size length bolt kits so you can choose the one that fits the best on any specific vehicle cross rails configuration. A final note, depending on the shape of the crossbars you may notice a small ‘dip’ in the bracket under the JAWZ unit. This is okay. When you tighten the carrier with the provided hardware you will always have a fully secured system.
