The all-new Rocky Mounts Noose SL bicycle rack is now even better! Now includes redesigned, easier to use and more secure locking skewer that allows for the removal of the lock cylinder (previous version did not allow for removal of lock once it was inserted). Rocky Mount Noose SL is an innovative fork mount bike rack that attaches directly to factory rack cross bars. The Noose SL has been specifically designed for the pre-installed factory racks found on cars and SUV's. The Noose will fit directly to any crossbar under 4.25" in width and 1.5" in height (Please note that the Nissan Frontier, Nissan Pathfinder SE, Nissan Xterra, Volkswagen Toureg, Hummer H2 and Volvo XC90 factory roof rack crossbars require oversize bolt kit part #0690 (not included; see accessory add-ons below) / For Pontiac Vibe & Toyota Matrix the short bolt kit part #0695 (not included; see accessory add-ons below) is required). Noose SL is lockable using a Rocky Mounts lock core (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below). Inno, Thule & Yakima lock cores do NOT work with RockyMount bicycle carriers.
RockyMounts Noose also works with Yakima Racks round cross bars or Inno Racks & Thule Racks square load bars - alternatively, if you have Inno, Yakima or Thule cross bars we recommend the Rocky Mounts PitchFork.
PLEASE NOTE: Noose SL works with all road and mountain bikes with up to 2.3" tire width (nearly all bikes fit this category, only some freeride / downhill mountain bikes may need the Noose SLX version). If your tires are more than 2.3" (check tire sidewall for size) you will need the Rocky Mounts Noose SLX instead.
If your bike has disc brakes then the Rocky Mounts Disc Brake Adapter is also needed (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below).

I wanted something that could fit to my factory crossbars. The unit fit great and carried my bikes with no problems. The install was simple and I thought the unit was well worth the price.

You can’t beat the price of this rack and it stands alone in the world of racks as the only one, as far as I know, that will attach directly to your factory crossbars. The front plate is kind of gaudy looking, but I understand that it is necessary to distribute the weight of the bike, but still…Anyway, the rack works fine and hasn’t let me down. The one thing that is not perfect is the skewer. Although it is cool looking and beefy, it is a bit difficult to get used to as it is much more finicky than typical skewers.

I needed to carry my bikes as inexpensively as possible and this was the answer. Apparently, these are the only racks that fit directly to factory crossbars. They work good enough. They aren't the heaviest duty racks on the planet that's for sure, but I guess that is why they are so cheap. I needed to buy a disc adapter for my Stumpy, so that offset my savings a bit. If you have tons of cash, I'd get something else, like a Thule or Yakima, but if you're broke like me, they do the trick.
