The RockyMounts BackStage bike rack is a platform-style hitch mount bike rack for two bikes that does what only a few hanging style hitch racks could do: swing away to the side of the vehicle with bikes loaded to offer clear and unobstructed access to the trunk, hatch, or tailgate. Platform style design makes for the easiest loading and unloading of any style bike rack, and with the ability to swing the rack away--yes, even when fully loaded with bikes--to the passenger side for rear vehicle access, this is the most convenient bike rack available. If you're planning a long road trip and you're taking your bikes with you, this is the bike rack you want. The BackStage hitch bike rack features a cantilevered arm that swings out 41" so whether you're driving a Sprinter, RV, camper, or SUV, the BackStage will clear the back. Each bike is carried in its own tray and held securely in place with a padded tire hook that ratchets down onto the top of the front tire directly in front of the fork, and a single ratcheting wheel strap secures the rear wheel. Loading and unloading the bike takes a matter of seconds, and any bike with a wheel size from 20" to 29" and tire width up to 5" will work. Ratchet arms fold flat when not in use, and the entire platform can fold up and out of the way when the bikes aren't coming with you. Locks to lock the bikes into the rack and to lock the rack into the hitch are included. Available for 2" hitches only.

  • Platform style (tray style) bike rack requires minimal lifting for the easiest loading and unloading possible
  • Carries two bikes. No third bike add-on is available
  • Accommodates wheel sizes ranging from 20" to 29" and fits skinny road tires up to 5" fat bike tires
  • Bikes are held in wheel trays that are 13" apart and which adjust 3" side to side to prevent bike-to-bike contact
  • Convenient swing-away feature allows clear access to rear of vehicle with bikes fully loaded
  • Max bike weight: 60 lbs per bike, 120 lbs total
  • Bike rack weight: 58 lbs
  • Includes locks/keys for locking rack to hitch and bikes to rack for theft prevention

The perfect bike rack for van owners!
September 25, 2017
Finally! The bike rack I have dreamed about has been created! This rack does it all! It is strong and sturdy and safely carries two bikes. The rack has a tilt away option, just pull the blue lever and it tilts allowing easy access to rear hatches/pick-up beds, etc... and for van owners that have big swing open doors, this rack pivots and fully extends away and to the side granting full, unobstructed access to whatever you are carrying in the back. I don't know why this has taken so long to be invented?
