Adapter not stable
July 3, 2016
I bought this to convert my Rocky Mounts Pitchfork for use with a Thru-Axle bike. At maximum locking force into the Pitchfork the adapter pivots (does not stand up straight). The issue is that it then contacts the front brake disc pad mount leaving scratches and the risk that it will be damaged or perhaps moved out of alignment. I generally like to mount the bike rear end first. However, because of this issue I am forced to mount the bike front end toward the front of the car, much less handy on a pickup truck. Bottom line is that this item looks good, but does not perform well. Rocky Mounts should have and could have designed it differently so that it does not pivot while locked into a Rocky Mounts tray. If it stood up straight and stayed there, it would be a good product.
Pros:
More stable than using a stand up front wheel in place mount.
Cons:
See above
