*62" long bike tray for recumbent bikes, XtraCycle, Elliptigo etc.
Check out the impressive RockyMounts TieRod Bike Rack, the only bike rack guaranteed to fit all factory rack crossbars! A fork mount style bike rack that is fully compatible with all factory rack cross bars, as well as any style of Thule roof rack bars, Yakima rack round bars and Inno Racks square crossbars etc. Packed with premium features and a price that beats similar carriers, the RockyMounts TieRod combines the sleek, design styling of the RockyMounts PitchFork bike rack with the universal mounting convenience of a factory roof rack compatible bicycle carrier.
The Rocky Mounts TieRod replaces the discontinued, older model RockyMounts Noose factory rack mount bike racks and is now engineered with more universal compatibility with virtually all styles of bicycles and a re-designed lock system that enables both the bike to be locked inside the RockyMounts Tie Rod bike rack and the rack itself to the car rack crossbars. Includes the stainless steel, long-throw, lockable Rocky Mounts quick release skewer (lock cores sold separately; see accessory add-ons below), the easiest quick release to use in the bike rack industry. One sided smooth, positive adjustment, large knob is easy to turn, 12mm of closure (closest competitor only has 7mm!).
TWO OPTIONS FOR LOCKING ROCKYMOUNTS TIEROD
The Rocky Mounts TieRod factory rack bike rack includes the most innovative and theft-proof system available on the market today. Two options for locking the TieRod carrier: OPTION 1) Just purchase one RockyMounts lock (not included; see accessory add-ons below). Insert into quick release skewer and lock, this will simultaneously lock bicycle to the bike rack and prevent access to the bike rack mounting bolts, preventing scummy thieves from simply removing the rack. OPTION 2) To make life the easist, simply buy a 2 pack of RockyMounts locks and insert one lock into the fork block head unit. Now the RockyMounts TieRod will always be locked to the car rack crossbars. Use the second lock in the quick release skewer to lock bike to carrier. With fork block head always locked you don't have to ever worry about the rack being vulnerable to theft.
- Solid metal fork block head fits any factory rack crossbars like a glove, guaranteed! Rubber coated, stainless steel straps snug and cradle the roof rack crossbar.
- Premium low-profile design and styling and available in a rainbow of color options.
- Accommodates all disc-brake / suspension combinations with standard 9mm axles (see accessory add-ons below for fork adapters to use with other styles/sizes of thru axles, Cannondale Lefty, Maverick etc).
- Fits all sizes of tires, from skinny road bike tires on up to any fat tires with a width up to 2.7" (which means it works with 29er bikes & full suspension mountain bikes etc).
- The total length of this carrier, including fork block and bike tray is 48 inches, allowing for longer wheelbases found on full-suspension bikes, 29er bikes etc.
- The modern looking, tubular aluminum bike tray is ultra-strong and includes an end cap.
- Rocky Mounts Quick Release skewer rides against nylon bushings for a snug & silent fit that prevents any rattling when not in use.
- Rear bike wheel ratchet strap is fully adjustable and easily secures the skinniest road tire on up to a 2.7" fat mountain bike tire, also compatible with deep-dish rims.
- Dual locking options for locking the bike to the carrier and the TieRod, itself, to the car rack cross bars (see above for details).
- Low profile and whisper quiet while speeding down the highway. Completely secure at high speeds and on rough roads.
- Arrives complete with all hardware for quick and easy installation.
- Easy-to-follow RockyMounts TieRod installation instructions manual included.

Perfect Fit and Look On My Vehicle
this RockyMounts Tie Rod bike rack review by Alan W.
vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Subaru Outback
item(s) transported: two Specialized Roubaix road bikes
The racks completely blend in with the look of the Outback. They are very streamlined and low profile. Mounting the racks was very easy and do not cause any wind noise that I can detect. Rear door also opens all the way. Attaching the bikes is very easy. I am completely satisfied.

I installed the rack in about five minutes. Very easy to use. This is the only bike rack that would fit under my garage door.
Low Slung, Rock Solid, Rad Colors!!
this RockyMounts TieRod bike rack review by tweeked
vehicle year/make/model: 2002 Subaru WRX Sport Wagon
item(s) transported: bikes, both trail & downhill rigs
Was looking for a low profile, factory compatible, fork mount tray and this is the winner. The tray is rock solid. Mounting and assembly was easy as pie. The skewer is by far the best out of all other brands, just set it and forget it. No more adjusting every time you put bikes on and off. The stainless steel parts and locking features are a bonus to. Also many colors to choose from to increase the pimp factor of your ride!!

vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Cadillac CTS Sport wagon

Great design... sleek, with a low profile that adds to the aesthetic of a well designed vehicle. A perfect mount to the factory cross-bars.
Outstanding Bike Racks
this RockyMounts TieRod bike rack review by Harley
vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Subaru Outback
item(s) transported: bikes
I love these bike racks. First off, they're easy to use with the latch system they use for the fork mounts. They're also really low profile so wind noise is minimal. One of my favorite features is the pure fact that they come in sweet colors so I'm not just another drone with my black Yakima racks. I went for the blue ones. They're also easy to set up and adjust. Highly recommend the TieRods.
Excellent Bike Rack

An excellent bike rack with clean lines and is easy/secure to use. Works well with disc brakes also. Much better than my older Yakima bike trays.
BOLD
this RockyMounts TieRod bike rack review by Firefighter/EMT Cyclist Woodard
vehicle year/make/model: 2005 Subaru Outback
item(s) transported: road and mountain bikes
First, I like the fact that this rack comes in many color options. Besides the fact that mine matches my bike, I choose the yellow rack to go along with my black Subaru. (Yellow reminds me of the yellow jersey in the Tour de France!) Also, I like that its easy to load your bike on to the rack with no problems. The thing I don't care about from this rack, is the fact that as you start hitting faster speeds in your car, the rack creates a loud annoying whistle sound. (I have a Yakima rack next to it and it doesn't make a sound while driving at high speeds.) If you find a solution to this issue, keep me posted. Happy Cycling! (PLEASE NOTE: ORS recommends using a wind fairing on the front crossbar to eliminate any possible whistling / rack noise).

ORS Crew explains - The total length of this carrier, including fork block and bike tray is 48 inches.
ORS Crew explains - If you are concerned about the rear of the bike tray hitting your hatchback when it opens, you will need 48.5" from the front edge of your front roof rack cross bar to the hatchback door when open position. If there isn't enough clearance, a great tip is to simply flip the bike rack so it is facing backwards.
Brad K. asks - Looking at Inno INA381 fork bike rack and Rocky Mounts Tie Rods racks (the ones that fit on all cross bars). I have a '93 Subaru Legacy wagon with factory roof rack crossbars that are 3-3/4" wide and a very minimal clearance from car roof top to bottom of the cross bars of about 1". Will either of these be able to be mounted to the cross bars with such a small clearance? For example: will the hex bolts on the Inno extend beyond an inch or will the wing nuts on rear mounts of the Rocky mounts fit in that space between the car roof and the cross bar etc?
ORS Crew answers - You won’t be able to attach bike racks directly to those 1993 Subaru Legacy factory rack cross bars (they are located too close to the rooftop, as you indicated). Instead, you will need to install a base rack system that fits over the factory rack. The Yakima Q Towers roof rack is a great solution. Along with the four Q Towers, you will receive two pairs of Q38 clips and a pair of 48” cross bars. You can then attach any roof mount bike racks to the Q Tower cross bars. This rack has a load weight limit of 165 lbs.
Jenn Gordon asks - Does this fit onto the factory rack of a Subaru Outback 2011 model?
ORS Crew answers - Yes this is an excellent option for the 2011 Subaru Outback factory rack crossbars. You will also be able to open the rear hatch door all the way without touching the bike tray.
