I had this out of the box and on my car in less than 30 minutes. Light weight, easy to adjust and install, simple construction and directions. and works great! Easy to get bikes on and off quickly. The rack is easy to remove and folds up for easy storage in the trunk or back seat. I may never have a roof rack again.

I have used many trunk bike racks over the years and finally decided to give the Bones a try. I always really liked they way they looked, just a much more stylish appearance than all the other carriers out there. After getting it and installing it though, I'm very impressed with the quality and ease of mounting onto my Corolla. The bike cradles also hold all the different sizes and types of bikes nicely. The bikes stay very secure while travelling too, no worrying about them bumping into the back of the car. I would highly recommend the Bones to others.

Wayne asks - Where is the best place to put the upper legs of the Bones trunk rack frame on a hatchback? (I also asked this question on the Bones 3 page.)
ORS Crew answers - Great question, the Bones has no specific 'Fit Dial' mechanism, found on some other competitors' trunk bike rack models, that will tell you exactly where to position the frame for each specific vehicle. However, the Bones works off a very simple installation procedure where you first make sure the feetof the lower legs on the bottom of the frame are firmly placed and supported on the bumper. Then for all hatchbacks you open up the top part of the frame to the fully open position. Check out the installation instructions (see link above ) and view the installation diagrams for different vehicle models (coupe/sedan trunks, hatchbacks and SUV's), you will want to refer to Figure 3b which shows the Bones installed on a hatchback, notice the frame is fully opened wide with the bottom legs on the bumper and the top legs then positioned where the rack naturally falls into place on the rear of the car. You then tighten the straps to ensure the rack remains in this position.
R.D. asks - Will the Saris Bones 2 and 3 models work on the following: 2001 Saab 9.3 convertible / 2004 Buick Park Avenue 4-door sedan.
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Saris Bones 2 and Bones 3 models are compatible with both of those vehicles. An excellent choice for a Saab 9-3 convertible trunk bike rack and Buick Park Avenue trunk mount bike rack. They easily transfer between the two vehicles as well.
JC asks - Will the Saris 801 work on a 1996 Volvo 850 sedan?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Bones 3 works as a great 1996 Volvo 850 trunk bike rack.
Carole asks - Would this Saris trunk rack work on a 2005 Subaru Outback wagon?
ORS Crew answers - Unfortunately the Bones is not compatible with the 2005 Subaru Outback. As of this writing (8/11/2010) a great alternative is the Thule 962XT Speedway 3 bike trunk rack.
Gunter asks - Is this rack compatible for use on a 2010 Audi A4 sedan? What keeps the six metal clips for the top, side and bottom from scratching the paint?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Saris Bones works perfectly as a 2010 Audi A4 sedan trunk bike rack and is an excellent choice. Also the clips feature a super-duty protective coating, that won't ever wear away, so you can be sure your Audi A4 paint finish is always protected.
Eric asks - Would this Saris bike rack fit on the back of the following vehicles: 2007 Honda Odyssey, 2003 Mercedes ML500, 2010 Nissan Versa Hatchback. Thank you.
ORS Crew answers - It'll work very well as both a 03 Mercedes ML500 bike rack and 2010 Nissan Versa hatchback bike rack, but not the Odyssey. The Odyssey is unable to support the weight of the carrier and bikes due to the small rear spoiler located at the top of the rear hatch door/back edge of the rooftop. This is where the straps would need to go, and if you tried to support the weight of the bikes and carrier along this point the system would fail. This is the same issue for any trunk rack from other manufacturers as well.
Charlie asks - Will the Saris Bones 2 or 3 work on 2010 Lexus RX350? Your Saris fit guide says yes but all models have a small spoiler, so I think not?
ORS Crew answers - The small spoiler on the top of the rear door on the 2010 Lexus RX350 is actually rated to handle a sizeable weight load, and a trunk bike rack with bikes loaded up falls safely in that cargo capacity range. Both the Bones 2 and 3 are engineered to work superbly as 2010 Lexus RX 350 trunk bike racks.
LWS asks - Will this carrier work on both a 2006 Toyota Avalon with rear spoiler and 2005 Acura MDX?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Bones 3 is a superb 2005 Acura MDX bike rack and 2006 Toyota Avalon bike rack (fully compatible with the Avalon spoiler).
MDSweeney4 asks - Will this carrier work on a 2009 Subaru Outback wagon with the little spoiler on it?
ORS Crew answers - Yes this is a confirmed and sanctioned fit for the 2009 Subaru Outback w/ small spoiler. Please note that you will need to use the Glass Hatch Huggers to replace the clips for the upper mounting points on the 09 Outback wagon.
