The Sportrack Hitch basket is a great product. It is well constructed and was easy to assemble and install. I’ve used it for everything from hauling firewood to junk and trash going to the dump, and anything else I don’t want in the back of my vehicle. It is easier to access than a cargo box and it has a much higher load capacity. I find it extremely handy and have been very pleased with it so far. The rack folds up and out of the way when you aren’t using it and can be taken off easily as well. Great product. If you have a trailer hitch and you need more cargo space, check this out before buying a cargo box.

In the past, we’ve used a cargo box for extra storage on our vacations. The box has worked fine, but is hard to access way up there on the roof. After seeing a hitch basket on a vehicle, we thought, what a great idea, and eventually purchased one. We also purchased the Cargo Bag, which integrates into the basket and organizes your gear and protects it from the weather. We definitely prefer this set up over the cargo box. It is just so much easier to get the gear in and out. We’ve also used it for hauling heavy and dirty items that we don’t want in our car or that won’t fit. In a way, it kind of turns your vehicle into a pickup! It is heavy duty, but not so heavy that it is hard to remove when not in use.

We were wondering how we were going to transport all the kids and gear to our destination for our beach vacation..... One of our friends had one of these hitch baskets and the basket bag and we thought it was a brilliant idea. Much more appealing than the rooftop box. This basket was easy to put together and easy to install on the car. It held a lot of our stuff. We have a family of 6 plus all the gear and beach equipment and we couldn't have done without this basket. It was so easy to pack and unpack the basket because of the location as opposed to the rooftop carrier. I can see we'll be using this hitch basket a lot.
