The ABR511 SportRack J Stacker kayak rack delivers an easy to use and convenient j-cradle style kayak loading/unloading design. The SportRack J Stacker uses up much less crossbar space than conventional kayak racks that carry the kayak laying flat on kayak saddles, instead the SportRack J Stacker carries the kayak semi-vertically on its side using up much less roof rack cross bar space to allow attaching another J Stacker or other gear carriers. Works with all types of kayak shapes - sea, ocean, whitewater, tandem kayaks and more. The Sport Rack ABR511 J Stacker kayak carrier mounts directly to Thule roof rack square load bars, Inno Racks square cross bars, Yakima round crossbars and virtually all factory roof rack crossbars. Also attaches to elliptical Thule Rapid Aero load bars & Thule Xsporter truck rack using the Thule Xadapt 3 adapter kit. Includes both front and rear fully padded j-cradles and all mounting, safety & stability hardware including universal car rack crossbar mounting clamps, 2 heavy-duty straps with cam-buckles and a pair of bow & stern tie downs with galvanized steel bumper hooks to secure kayak to the front and rear of the vehicle.

I installed the kayak racks on our 2008 Dodge Grand Caravan with factory roof rack and cross bars. They were very easy to install. They held our 2 Wilderness Systems Tarpon 100's securely. We have used them for some short trips, but nothing long yet. Am looking forward to kayaking all over the place!!

Works on multiple roof racks - I have also used them on my 2004 Honda Odyssey with Thule square bars.

Sam asks - My car has a factory rack with 1-1/2" cross bars (round), can I use this j-rack on them?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, this carrier will work great on your factory rack bars.
Scott asks - Is there an adaptor for mounting this J Stacker on a wall for long term storage?
ORS Crew answers - No. But as of this writing (8/9/2010) a great option is the Malone JDock kayak storage rack.

ORS Crew answers - Yes this is an excellent option for 2009 Jeep Compass kayak racks and mount directly to the factory crossbars (yes many people do also call them cross rails, the two bars that run across the rooftop from the driver-side over to the passenger-side).

Also mounts to elliptical Thule Rapid Aero load bars & Thule Xsporter truck rack using the Thule Xadapt 3 adapter kit.
If loading kayak from the rear of the vehicle we highly recommend the Thule 854 Water Slide Mat (not included; see accessory add-ons above) for simultaneously protecting your vehicle and also gaining extra assistance when loading and unloading a boat.
