What can we say...we LOVE this innovative carrier & Thule Racks does too because they bought the Sportworks Company, which originally made the InstaGater! Quick is what you get in the Thule 501 Insta-Gater bike rack for pick-up truck beds. Not only is it quick and easy to load your bike in the InstaGator rack with no need to remove the wheels, it's just as easy to install the carrier in the bed of your truck. Each operation is performed in less than 10 seconds!
Installation of the InstaGater in the truck bed is done by simply opening the tailgate, setting the rack on the bed with the Insta-Gator gate anchor between the tailgate and the bed, and closing the tailgate. The ratcheting straps easily secure the bicycle carrier in place, there are absolutely no other adjustments that need to be hassled with. Lock your bike inside the bike rack using a Thule lock cylinder (not included; see accessories below).

Certain pick-up trucks with short beds or shells and caps may not be compatible with this carrier, as the bicycle is transported upright with both wheels on. We recommend first putting your bike in your truckbed (if you haven't ever before) to ensure your truck bed is long enough and, if applicable, your truck cap or shell is high enough.
