The complete Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero roof rack system is a multi-purpose base rack solution for cars, minivans, SUV's and pickup truck cabs without raingutters, factory racks or side rails. The Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero car rack system works the same as the regular Thule 400XT Aero system but uses the premium, aerodynamic Thule AeroBlade load bars instead of square bars. No tools required and super easy to install. We highly recommend a four pack of Thule Locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock the rack to vehicle.
The Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero complete roof rack system includes all 3 components that are necessary for installing a general-purpose base rack on your vehicle's roof top, providing the foundation that will allow you to then connect roof mount gear carriers that carry your gear and equipment:
- Four (4) Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero Feet.
- Four (4) Thule Fit Kit clips (specific to your vehicle; see ordering notes below).
- Two (2) Thule AeroBlade Load bars (bar end caps included).
The Thule 400XTR Rapid Aero Foot Pack is designed to work exclusively with the super strong, totally silent Thule AeroBlade load bars, creating a seemlessly integrated sleek look. The 400XTR Rapid Aero Foot Pack uses the exact same existing Fit Kit Clips that work with the classic 400XT Foot Pack. The AeroBlade load bars are offered in four sizes for optimal fit on any vehicle (we highly recommend using our Thule Racks Fit Guide, see above or below, to determine proper Aero Blade bars length for your specific vehicle.) Customize rack by connecting Thule gear carriers to the AeroBlade load bars. (Thule Xadapt kits required for connecting certain carriers; see accessory add-ons below). Protective surfaces on rack prevent shifting and protect car's paint. No tools required for assembly. This rack is much more safer for bike transportation than trunk racks. Rapid bars look good on my car's roof (much better than the square bars), it's really easy and quick to put on and off the bike carriers.

I have the new Thule 400xtr rapid aero system mounted on my A4 wagon. I chose the rapid system because it looks better. Period. It looks better on the car and the accessories look better on the rack. Thule is the only company who realizes that racks can compliment a nice car’s aesthetic rather than detract from it. If you have a nicer car, and you care about how it looks with a rack on top, get the rapid aero system instead of the standard system. You won't regret it.

The Thule Rapid Aero bars are awesome. They look hot and best of all, they don’t howl* These Aero bars are quiet! There’s a track running along the top of the bar that adapter kits fit into to attach accessories like bike and ski carriers. A bolt attached to a small plate runs through the track and your attachments use those bolts to mount directly to your bars... simple. *Just make sure you keep the rubber seal that fits into the track to put back in around the attachments or they will make noise.
