Great Purchase, Will Last Forever
this Thule 422XT Xsporter truck rack review by George G.
vehicle year/make/model: 2006 Chevy Colorado
item(s) transported: kayaks and other sports gear
This product is wonderful. I had been researching these racks for a while, and was searching for a sale, or a used system. But low and behold, I stumbled across ORS Racks Direct and the whole system (locks included) came out to be much cheaper than from the manufacturer or any other retailer I had encountered! Needless to say, I made the purchase, and had my racks in about 3 days, installed them in about an hour or so, and have been toting my kayaks to and from the beach with ease multiple times a week. Also great that other Thule racks (bike racks, surf racks, etc.) will be compatible with this base set so I can add on any time I need! I definitely recommend this product.
Most Versatile Truck Rack on the Market
this Thule 422XT Xsporter review by Adam
vehicle year/make/model: 2008 Toyota Tundra
item(s) transported: Surf boards, snowboards, mountain bikes, lumber, and ladders
This rack will fit your every need. Bought it for moving my long board surf boards to and from the beach, since them I have used it for lumber and extension ladders, the load stops make it perfect for this. You will not run out of uses for this rack.
I am Very Happy With This Rack
this Thule 422XT Xsporter review by Scott-KA
vehicle year/make/model: 2008 Toyota Tacoma
item(s) transported: canoe and ladders
This truckbed rack is perfect for my Toyota Tacoma. It's one of the few systems that work with the truckbed rail system. I just had to use the Thule XK1 adapter kit with the Towers. I really like how locks are included for locking the rack to the rails. Nice touch. The included Load Stops are all I need for carrying my canoe or ladders too. So I didn't need to get any extra accessories like other systems require you to do. I like how the 422XT works on all style of pickups too. Nice knowing I can transfer the rack over to another truck if I ever have to. It has a nice modern yet rugged commercial style look too. Very easy to raise and lower the Towers also. I keep the Towers lowered when I'm not carrying anything so I get better gas mileage.
Great Rack!
this Thule 422XT Xsporter truck rack review by Todd
vehicle year/make/model: 2008 Toyota Tundra
item(s) transported: kayaks, bikes, lumber
I purchased this rack 6 months ago and am very pleased with it. I was able to put my Yakima HullRaiser Aero kayak racks on it and haul them on a 2,200 mile trip with no problems. I also like how you can raise and lower them to whatever height you want, this came in handy with the kayaks as well so I could have the front higher than than the back, thus not having them sit 3 feet higher than the truck. Great rack and you won't be disappointed by them.
Solid Choice. Good all around system.
this Thule 422XT Xsporter review by Greg B.
vehicle year/make/model: 2007 Ford F-150
item(s) transported: kayaks / bikes. We'll see what else.
The Thule Xporter racks have made a great addition to my truck. Not only do they allow me to carry more gear while saving space in my bed, they also look great. These are high quality racks with a lot of nice features. Here are a few. They have multi-positions, up or down, and the uprights can come right out if you aren' t planning on using them. The T-slots in the top of the bar can be used to attach certain Thule carriers. I mounted Thule Racks Hull-a-Port kayak carriers and Echelon bike trays and it works great. Plus my truck bed is open for other gear. The load capacity is 450 lbs, which is 150 lbs more than the Yakima Outdoorsman, the other pickup truck bed rack system I was lookig at. Finally, they come with a set of rugged loadstops. If you're in the market for truck bed racks, take my advice the Xporter is the way to go.
Looks Sharp!!!
this Thule 422XT Xsporter review by kayaking tacoma
vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Toyota Tacoma
item(s) transported: kayak
Although the instructions included with the rack are pretty general, assembly is relatively easy. Once installed on your truck, it looks really good and is very sturdy. The 2010 Toyota Tacoma I own required a separate mounting adapter kit which works perfect. The only drawback with my model truck is that the bed narrows down at the wheel wells and that's as far down as the adjustment goes (just below cab height).
I Love This Truck Rack

I love the truck rack I purchased from you guys. I get compliments on my Thule Xsporter truck rack all the time. I use it to haul kayaks and canoes and surfboards. Last week I had 6 boats in my truck. It looked awesome! The service with ORS Racks Direct has been great. I would definitely be a repeat customer.

Bill DeLuna asks - What's the difference between the older version Thule 422 Xporter and the new model 422XT version? It looks to me as if the difference is the multiple height adjustments on the new version vs the 2 adjustments on the old version 422. Any information you can give me on the differences between the two would be greatly appreciated.
Shawn says - You hit the nail smack on the head, that is the difference. Thule used to have two sized (421 and 422) that each had two height adjustments, and they smartened up and decided to make just the one 422XT with many adjustment points that universally fits all pickup truck sizes!
ORS Crew says - We have tested and verified that the Yakima universal mounts, that come with Yakima kayak racks and upright mount bike racks, will fit nicely to the Thule Xsporter bars. Great news for anyone with Yakima carriers currently or interested in purchasing these carriers for use on this truck rack.
Bill C. states - I had spent just over a month reviewing rack systems and when I saw the 422XT Xsporter rack system, it was a "must buy" as it was the most versatile system I had ever seen. It had all the features I needed and the best space saver system for my situation allowing me to place my 6' tables on the rack system side by side and leave the truck bed for more cargo inventory for flea market set-up. I am extremely satisfied with my purchase from ORS Racks Direct. I see more accessories I will add to my system in your product line selection.
Aaron asks - I'd like to be able to have 2 835XTR j-racks on the Xsporter, then fill up the rest of the bars with a ski rack (plan to use them as fishing rod holders which are perfect for fishing rods) but I dont want to buy more than what will fit on the bars though. Thoughts?
ORS Racks Direct crew answers - The 422XT bars are 71" long. The 91726 and 91725 ski carriers takes up 30" of bar space and the 91724 take up 22". The 835XTR’s take up approx 18" apiece, so you you have plenty of room.
Ben asks - I have a '05 Toyota Tacoma and would thus need the XK1 adapter. As I would like to only mount the Tule Xsporter to the truck when in use, I was wondering how long it would take to put the rack on the truck and then take it down. What is the process with this adapter and the time needed for setup?
CRAWDAD answers - I do this with my Xsporter Ben. The XK1 adapters mount fast to the track system. Then all you do is attach the base of each 422XT Tower onto each adapter. So taking it out is so easy. I usually just remove the Tower and leave the base intact on the XK1. But its not a hassle to loosen the XK1 adapters and then just slide out the 422XT bases if you prefer.
M. Watson asks - Does the Thule 422XT fit a Nissan Frontier pickup truck bed that does not have the Utility Bed Track system?
CB asks - Does the thule 422XT fit a 2009 Colorado pickup?
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - Yep. This model works great as a 2009 Chevy Colorado truck rack.
M. Watson asks - Does the Thule 422XT fit a Nissan Frontier pickup truck bed that does not have the Utility Bed Track system?
Drako3 responds - Yeah the Xsporter is a great option for a Nissan Frontier truck rack if it doesn't have the utility bed track system.
Mike asks - Will the 422xt xsporter truck rack fit on a 2007 Nissan Frontier four door pick-up. Everytime I use the search engine for compatibility it only shows roof racks. I have a bed rail system like the ones used on the Toyota Tacoma.
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - The 422XT doesn't fit the '07 Nissan Frontier with a bed track system. The bed track system features a different design from the Toyota Tacoma and Tundra utilitrac systems and Thule Racks hasn't yet engineered an adapter to fit the Nissan Frontier bed track, similar to the XK1 and XK2 adapters used on the Toyota pickup truckbed utilitrac systems. However, the TracRac truck rack system is compatible with your model, and we highly recommend this option. Also if your Frontier has factory side rails on the cab roof you also have the option of installing the Thule 450 Crossroad roofrack or Thule 450R Rapid Crossroad roofrack.
Rocket asks - I just bought a new 2009 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab with no racks. I would like a truck bed rack. My primary uses will be kayaks, surfboards, skis, snowboards but also sheetrock, plywood, lumber and ladders. The Thule fit guide does not list the 2009 Chevy Colorado. Can you help me?
ORS Racks Direct Crew answers - That should be listed as a compatible fit in the fit guide. The 422XT works nicely as a 2009 Chevy Colorado truck rack. The included XStops are great for hauling plywood & lumber, sheetrock, ladders etc.
George B. asks - Do the Thule 422XT Xporter towers have the option to be locked down to the bed of the truck? If not how about the Yakima Outdoorsman 300 towers?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, in fact the Xsporter includes a 4-pack of Thule locks and keys to lock all 4 towers to the truck bed. No need to purchase any additional security locks. The Yakima Outdoorsman 300 truck racks do not have a locking option available.
