The Thule 517 Peloton Fork Mount Bike Rack is the evolutionary result of Thule Racks ongoing tradition of engineering the features that make their models the most popular selling bike racks ever! Simply open up the fork block cover, mount the bike on the rack, adjust tightness using thumbwheel & close cover. The 517 Thule Peloton is now designed to work with virtually all bicycles including any disc brake / suspension shock set-up that uses standard 9mm axles (see accessory add-ons below for fork adapters to use with other styles/sizes of axles). Compatible with road bikes, mountain, downhill / freeride bikes, hybrid bikes and more. Bike tray & rear strap can even fit fat tires up to 2.6" wide, also compatible with high-profile rims.
Thule 517 Peloton bike rack connects directly to Thule square load bars, Inno Rack crossbars and Yakima round cross bars. Also mounts to elliptical Thule Rapid Aero load bars & Thule Xsporter truck rack using the Thule Xadapt9 kit. Connects to car factory roof rack crossbars using the Thule 532 Ride On Adapter. A Thule lock (not included; see accessory add-ons below) simultaneously locks the bicycle inside the bike rack and the bike rack to the roof rack crossbars.

I liked the Thule 517 I bought last year so much a ordered another one this year for my other bike. It is rock solid and easy to lock. I do feel the locks are overpriced. They should be about half the price. The lock is not needed but comes in handy when going out of town.

I decided to go with the Peleton after reading a lot of great reviews, and now I will add my own great review. I'm a 5'6" small-framed woman and I have no trouble getting the bike into the fork mounts. The skewer adjusts easily with a rolling knob and once clamped down, I am confident that the bike isn't going anywhere. It is also extremely easy to install. I know that there are more expensive racks out there, but this one works perfect for this girl and I highly recommend it.

Also, when the Thule 517 is locked closed, it prevents anyone from being able to pull up the hood and steal the bike rack itself.
