The Thule 542 Artificial Raingutters are brackets that convert gutterless vehicles so they can accept Thule Racks rain gutter multi-purpose roof racks including the 300, 387 and 953 models. Great for camper shells, toppers & truck caps, Jeep Wrangler tops and more! Easily bolts through the top or sides of vehicles to create fastening points for a Thule raingutter base roof rack. The Thule 542 Artificial RainGutters Brackets can be mounted flat on the roof or vertically on the side of the roof (mount close to the roof top to allow clearance over the roof for the load bars). Packaged as a set of four brackets with all installation hardware included.
- The Thule 542 Artificial Raingutter Brackets are most commonly used on pick-up truck caps, toppers, camper shells and Jeep Wrangler tops.
- Includes rubber gaskets which provide a solid and protective barrier (completely waterproof too) between the brackets and the mounting surface.
- Packaged as a set of 4 with all installation hardware included.
- Bracket dimensions: 6 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" high.
- Can be used with any style Thule Raingutter Foot Pack including 300, 387 and 953 models.
- Brackets require drilling. Silicone sealant is recommended (not included).

Very Solid Setup. The Price Makes Up for Lack of Adjustment

(also reviewing Thule 300 Raingutter Roof Rack System) Received all components in time expected. I mounted the 542 brackets to the upper outsides of my topper. I used the windows on each side as references to get them level & even. Installing the mounts is the only thing about this system that requires any precision. If you've got square/level references to go off of this is a cinch. Without them I could see this being pretty a challenging install. Once assembled system is solid, I have not had to retighten anything or had any shift.

Craig K. asks - What are the measurements of each bracket? Also what is the distance between the two bolt holes?
ORS Crew answers - The 542 Bracket size is 6.25"(l) x 2"(h) and the bolt holes are 5" apart.
J. Young asks - Do these adapters mount horizontally flat on the surface? eg. pickup truck cap roof
ORS Crew answers - The 542 brackets will not mount flat on the rooftop. They are intended for use on the sides (i.e. sides of a camper shell, truckbed cap, topper etc.) For mounting to the roof top we recommend the Yakima Bolt Top Loader brackets. You can still attach the Thule roof rack feet (300, 387, 953 etc.) to these Yakima Bolt Top Loader brackets as well, if you prefer Thule roof racks over Yakima systems.
