If your bike has two wheels, it will most likely fit into the Thule 594XT Sidearm upright-carry bike rack, which accommodates virtually all styles and sizes of bicycles regardless of frame design, brake system or suspension style, or wheel size. Load bike by simply placing it in the wheel tray and then ratcheting down the tire hook onto the front tire for a rock-solid grip. Secure the rear wheel strap and you’re good to go. For security from theft, the ratchet arm takes one Thule One-Key core to lock the bike into the rack and the ratchet arm assembly cover accepts a second lock core for locking the 594XT to the crossbars (Thule One-Key locks sold separately). The 594XT Sidearm has universal mounting hardware and comes ready to attach directly to virtually all factory rack crossbars, as well as all Thule crossbar systems and all Yakima, Whispbar and Inno crossbar systems.
  • Tool-free universal mounting hardware offers a direct fit to virtually all factory racks, as well as all aftermarket crossbars from Thule, Yakima/Whispbar, Inno and more
  • Fits any bike with two wheels, from 20” to 29” wheel sizes and tires up to 2.6” wide. Please Note: The only catch is if you have a bike with fenders, it is not recommended keeping the front fender on when using this rack unless the hook can fit under the fender and get an unobstructed grip onto the tire
  • Tire hook design results in no frame contact
  • Lock your bicycle inside the bike rack and the bike rack to the base roof rack crossbars using two Thule One-Key locks (sold separately)
  • Rear ratcheting wheel strap quickly secures back wheel to bike tray
  • Fully corrosion resistant double-wall aluminum tray provides maximum strength and rigidity
  • Thule Racks Limited Lifetime Warranty!

Holds great, poor hardware choice
August 29, 2016
This rack has worked great, but only because we take the entire system off together. It holds the bikes very steady and I am a fan of the locking mechanism. The rack is less than fun to put together, but even then, once you have out on the crossbars, it is a pain to take it off. The Yakima racks go on and off easily. This one has 6 wing nuts that you have to take off, and four of them are underneath the crossbars. Then to top it all off, my rack got rained on one time, and the hardware that holds the rear wheel in place is already rusting. They are just small pieces and it couldn't have cost them that much more to go with stainless steel for these parts. Overall the rack is alright, but I feel like I would choose the Yakima version if I could do it over again.
Pros:
Holds bike very well Locking mechanism is easy to use and holds bike in place
Cons:
Time consuming assembly Time consuming to put on or take off of crossbars Poor material choice for rear wheel holder already rusting

solid anf functional rack for standard size mountain bike tires
June 16, 2016
solid rack though plus size tires do not fit well in the tray. Thule ought to make it's trays universal for larger tires and/or provide an adaptor. The side arm is secure though requires two hands and that can be a bit awkward.
Pros:
solid build and secures the bike well
Cons:
tray too narrow and short for plus size tires
