Thule Racks continues to push the car rooftop bike carrier envelope with the Thule 598 Criterium bike racks. The 598 Criterium is an upright mount bike rack that offers super easy bike loading/unloading and rock solid stability. No need to take the front wheel off first. The Criterium has a sculpted wheel tray and support arm clamp that work together and help keep the bike in position when securing to carrier. Holds bike frames up to 3-3/8 inch in diameter (virtually all bikes fit this measurement). Attaches directly to Thule square load bars, Inno Racks crossbars and Yakima round cross bars. Can also attach to car factory racks using the Thule 532 Ride On Adapter or to Thule Xsporter truck racks and elliptical Thule Rapid Aero bars using the Thule Car-Truck Rack Xadapt8 adapter kit. Simultaneously lock your bicycle inside the carrier and carrier to the base rack cross bars using two Thule locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below).

Cool looking rack that works well

I chose the Criterium because I liked the way it looked. I have the Thule rapid aero system and I felt that this would look great with it. It does, but that aside, the rack is great. THe clamping jaw securely holds my bicycle and is easy to adjust. I especially like how quickly the tension can be released, with the push of a button. The bike is stable when clamped and the rack folds down flat when not in use. Cool looking and great working - a great combination.

I like the Criterium a lot. I used to have a fork mounted Tule Racks bike carrier, but was sick of taking the wheel off all the time, so I changed to an upright and am much happier. Loading the bike is fast and easy, just crank on the dial until the clamp tightens on the frame. To unload, you push a button and the clamp opens. It is also very stylish, with its swooping curves. Nothing wrong with that.

Just because a bike rack looks so cool doesn't mean it shouldn't be equally easy to install and operate. Simply place any bike, from kid's bike to any adult road and mountain bike and everything in between, onto the bike tray. No need to take any wheels off. Raise the clamp arm and place the c-clamp on the bike frame downtube. Then simply turn the dial to tighten the clamp. Ratchet down the front and rear wheel straps and you're ready to hit the road! Thule 598 Criterium connects directly to Thule & Inno square crossbars and Yakima round bars. Also mounts to Thule Rapid Aero bars and Thule Xsporter truck rack using the Thule Xadapt8 kit. Combine the Criterium with the Thule 532 Ride-On kit for mounting to factory racks. Lockable using a Thule lock cylinder & key.
