The Thule 604 Ascent 1600 Roof Box is part of the all-new Thule Ascent cargo box series, delivering the ultimate combination of value and feature-packed gear transport convenience & rugged durability. The Thule 604 Ascent cargo box is the most popular model in the series because it fulfills so many purposes on a broad range of vehicle designs & styles. The Thule 604 Ascent cargo carrier has a 16 cu. ft. volume of gear storage capacity, only slightly less than the Thule 605 model (holds 17 cu. ft), plenty of room for an entire family's adventure gear & vacation needs! The 604 Ascent roof box is designed with a shorter length to offer a better fit on many more compact style SUV/CUV & station wagon vehicles. Use this cargo carrier for camping gear. Needed more space since our 2 children are now camping with us. Plenty of room for gear. Easy to attach to factory cross bars. Takes two people to get it on roof because of bulk, but can do by myself with some struggling, if needed. Love how it opens on both sides - especially useful in windy conditions. Haven't driven in rain yet since we live in the desert. Plan on using for skis once kids are older. Definitely recommend this product.

I bought the Ascent 1600 hoping I could carry most of stuff on top of the Forester, instead of crammed in the cargo area inside... I was not disappointed. The Ascent 1600 can fit TONS of stuff. I've had enough room for a few golf bags and luggage. We love it!

ORS Racks Direct Crew says - The Thule Ascent car roof boxes have a long range of adjustment to fit nearly any distance between the front roof rack crossbar and the rear roof rack cross bar (referred to as crossbar spread). In fact the Ascent 1700 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 37", Ascent 1600 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 35-5/8", Ascent 1500 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 33-1/2" and Ascent 1100 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 37-1/2".
Ben W. asks - I'm thinking of getting an Ascent 1600 for my 2007 Subaru Outback wagon, and I would like to know if I would also be able to put 2 bikes on the factory roof rack crossbars with the box?
ORS Crew answers - You won't have enough room on the 2007 Subaru Outback factory rack for the cargo box and the 2 bike racks at the same time. You will need to first install the general-purpose Thule 45058 Crossroad base rack system to the Outback side rails. The 58 inch cross bars included with the 45058 system you will then have the room required for the gear carriers.

This car roof mount luggage / cargo box connects directly to all styles of Thule base rack load bars, Yakima multi-purpose base rack round crossbars, Inno roof rack bars and virtually all factory roofrack cross bars. At order checkout we will obtain your vehicle year/make/model info to ensure this cargo carrier is compatible.
We offer 2 fulfillment options for cargo boxes:
1) Shipment by freight to residential/commercial addresses
2) In-store pickup.

1) For Shipments to Residential and Commercial Addresses

PLEASE NOTE: An additional freight charge of $50.00 will be added to your order as this item cannot be shipped via UPS/Fed Ex due to its oversize dimensions and must be shipped via freight & we ask that you please allow up to 2-3 weeks for delivery of this item. For your convenience this item ships directly to both residential and commercial business addresses, please supply either a residential or commercial business address for delivery at checkout. Please inspect your Cargo/Gear Box before signing and accepting delivery (this means removal from the cardboard carton and inspection for any visible damage as well as function of hinges/lid supports/locks) from freight company as ORS Racks Direct cannot accept returns or damage claims of these items after delivery has been accepted by the customer. If the box is damaged and unacceptable please refuse delivery with the LTL Freight company and contact us for resolution. If you have any questions concerning shipping and/or delivery please contact us, we're glad to help!

$50.00 freight charge will be waived. 6% Vermont Sales Tax WILL apply.
