The Thule 688XT Atlantis 2100 Roof Box is the largest model available in Thule Racks ultra-premium Atlantis cargo carrier series. Delivers a massive 21 cubic feet of room - a huge amount of space for all kinds of gear and luggage. The Thule 688XT Atlantis 2100XT cargo box replaces the discontinued Thule 688 Atlantis 2100 roof box with an all-new reinforced lid, oversized-ergonomic lock knob, easier than ever to use QuickGrip universal mounting system and reshaped aerodynamic design styling that dramatically reduces wind drag and improves vehicle fuel efficiency. Beautiful, metallic silver color finish and constructed of ultra-strong and UV resistant A.B.S. for an amazing strength to weight ratio. Richard M. asks - Will the Thule Atlantis 2100 fit on a 2012 Honda Pilot?
ORS Crew answers - In most cases when folks want to know if a certain cargo box with fit a vehicle they are primarily concerned with rear hatch door clearance of the back of the box. To determine this you simply need to refer to the Thule roof boxes dimensions / compatibility chart...

For the formula you simply need to look at the 'rear clearance measurement'(in this case for the 2100 Atlantis box there must be at least 26" distance between edge of fully opened hatch and rear edge of the rear crossbar) AND the front and rear crossbars spread must range anywhere between the 'minimum spacing' and 'maximum spacing' (in this case for the 2100 Atlantis box the front and rear crossbars spacing must be between 23-5/8" and 37-1/2"). Furthermore, we know firsthand that the 2100 is a good match for the 2012 Honda Pilot because we've personally outfitted the '12 Honda Pilot with this model roof box.
ORS Crew says - The Thule Atlantis car roof boxes have a long range of adjustment to fit nearly any distance between the front roof rack crossbar and the rear roof rack cross bar (referred to as crossbar spread). In fact the Atlantis 2100 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 37-1/2", Atlantis 1800 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 37", Atlantis 1600 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 35-1/2" and Atlantis 1200 fits any crossbars with a spread as short as 23-5/8" inches and as long as 36-3/4".
ORS Racks Direct Crew says - Thule Racks has designed the Atlantis boxes with an angled undercut in the rear tail of the box. This allows better clearance when opening the rear back door or hatch on cars. A very nice touch.
HOMErr asks - I can't figure out how to change a lock cylinder on a Thule Atlantis roof box. I want to change my lock but can't take the key out to put the removal key in. As you know, Thule boxes won't let you take the key out unless it is locked.
ORS Racks Direct crew answers - Yeah this probably has caused many folks to pull their hair out. But here's the answer for you and so glad you asked, this will hopefully save a lot of hair... To get a Thule lock cylinder out of a Thule box requires that you have the dedicated locking key and a master or control key. You would insert the dedicated key into the Thule lock cylinder on the cargo box and turn only 10 degrees, now pull the dedicated key out and insert the control key. You can now use the control key to wiggle a bit and the cylinder will pop out. Sounds kooky but this is really how to do it!
David asks - What's the largest capacity roof box available for a 2010 Acura MDX? I'm interested in the 2100 Atlantis model and Yakima SkyBox 21 model. But would consider going smaller.
ORS Crew answers - All cargo box sizes will fit the 2010 Acura MDX. However, the largest cargo boxes, the Thule 2100 Atlantis and Yakima SkyBox 21 models will restrict the rear door from opening all the way. The Thule 1800 Atlantis and Yakima SkyBox models are perfectly sized matches for the Acura MDX. If you will only be transporting luggage gear and nothing long such as skis, you should definitely then consider the Thule 1600 Atlantis and Yakima SkyBox 16 models. They are more compact, look great on top and allow the rear door to open completely without any interference.
Johanna asks - Will the Atlantis 2100 fit my 2005 Chrysler Pacifica factory rack cross bars and still allow the back door to open fully?
ORS Crew answers - Firstly, check out this Thule cargo box reference sheet. Using this reference you can determine if you will have the clearance to open the rear hatch all the way. You can see for the 688XT Atlantis 2100 box you will need a minimum of 26" rear clearance. You do have variable position mounting slots that will allow you to slide the cargo box forward on the cross bars to achieve that minimum 26" clearance. You can measure this on your 2005 Chrysler Pacifica by measuring from the rear cross bar to the rear edge of the roof. If you have at least 26" of length then you will have the clearance needed to open the rear door fully. Otherwise you can take your measurement and compare it with the other Thule cargo box models' rear clearance measurements to determine which boxes will allow you to open the rear door fully.

This car roof mount luggage / cargo box connects directly to all styles of Thule base rack load bars, Yakima multi-purpose base rack round crossbars, Inno roof rack bars and virtually all factory roofrack cross bars. At order checkout we will obtain your vehicle year/make/model info to ensure this cargo carrier is compatible.
We offer 2 fulfillment options for cargo boxes:
1) Shipment by freight to residential/commercial addresses
2) In-store pickup.

1) For Shipments to Residential and Commercial Addresses

PLEASE NOTE: An additional freight charge of $50.00 will be added to your order as this item cannot be shipped via UPS/Fed Ex due to its oversize dimensions and must be shipped via freight & we ask that you please allow up to 2-3 weeks for delivery of this item. For your convenience this item ships directly to both residential and commercial business addresses, please supply either a residential or commercial business address for delivery at checkout. Please inspect your Cargo/Gear Box before signing and accepting delivery (this means removal from the cardboard carton and inspection for any visible damage as well as function of hinges/lid supports/locks) from freight company as ORS Racks Direct cannot accept returns or damage claims of these items after delivery has been accepted by the customer. If the box is damaged and unacceptable please refuse delivery with the LTL Freight company and contact us for resolution.
