The Thule 846 Quest Cargo Bag attaches to aftermarket multi-purpose base rack systems including any Thule Racks, Inno Racks and Yakima Racks crossbars. Best of all, it attaches to virtually all factory installed car roof racks, even those with factory side rails only and no cross bars. The Thule 846 Quest roof bags offer the capacity and quality of a roof box, but are more convenient and foldable for easy storage. I recently replaced my 2008 Pathfinder with a 2009 BMW 3-Series Convertible and the 2009 Nissan Versa. There was no way I was going to haul cargo with the BMW and the Versa fit the bill with the exception of cargo hauling. Buying the rack system for the Versa makes it a much more versatile “winter beater”. The 400XT Aero base rack system was very simple to install less then an hour and very secure. We immediately drove back home to Vermont (330 miles and a majority over 70 MPH) and never once were we concerned about losing our gear in the Quest roof top bag. I modified the bag with two pieces of plywood to give the bottom some rigidly to allow it to sit on top of the bars rather than directly on the roof to prevent denting. The system does produce some additional wind noise on every day driving but once the Quest bag was in place we didn’t even notice it at all. It worked extremely well and we are very pleased with ORS Racks Direct. Prices are fantastic and shipping was fast 3 or 4 days I believe. I have already recommended ORS Racks Direct to colleagues for all their rack needs as well.

ORS Crew answers - Yes you are good to go. The Quest attaches to the factory rack and works as a great 2006 Chrysler Pacifica cargo luggage carrier.

ORS Crew answers - While it is weather resistant and will prevent water from entering the bag up to a certain point, in extended periods of rain and other precipitation water will eventually find its way inside the bag. Other bags such as the Thule 867 Tahoe and Yakima FarOut Pro offer a much great degree of water-resistance. However, for total waterproof protection you can always put all your cargo gear and luggage inside plastic bags before stowing them in the roof bag. This will ensure everything stays dry and protected no matter what weather you encounter on the road.
Greg S. asks - Is there any way to use this carrier on a 2005 Volvo S80 that doesn't have a factory rack or side rails on top, just a naked rooftop?
ORS Crew answers - No. You need factory side rails at the minimum for using this cargo luggage bag. Great alternatives are the Yakima FarOut Pro and the Yakima GetOut Pro. These will both work nicely on the bare rooftop of the 2005 Volvo S80.
Candice L. asks - I'd like to order the 846 Quest roof bag but want to first confirm that it fits on Volkswagen Passat side rails. There are no crossbars.

Connie Stafford asks - I have a 2011 Subaru Outback and a 2000 Lexus RX300 and both have factory racks. Will this bag work on both vehicles?
Yes, it is a confirmed fit for the 2000 Lexus RX 300 and 2011 Subaru Outback factory racks. It is easy to install on both styles of factory racks and tranfers easily between vehicles as well.
Chris L. asks - I realize the Quest won't fit cars without side rails or any kind of factory rack, but are there any other models that will work on cars with nothing on the rooftop? I have a 2009 Chevy Aveo5.
ORS Crew answers - For a soft-sided cargo luggage bag on your 2009 Chevrolet Aveo5 check out the Yakima FarOut Pro and the Yakima GetOut Pro. These will both work very well on your 09 Chevy Aveo 5 naked cartop.
