I recently purchased a Thule 867 Tahoe roof top cargo bag for my 2008 Subaru Outback. I just moved to Washington DC and needed a bit more space than what my car offers. I had considered purchasing a cargo box, but chose the bag because it was a much more affordable solution. I don’t plan on needing extra space on a daily basis, so the bag was the right choice at the right price. It is very durable and I was amazed at how much stuff I could fit in its 17 cubic feet of capacity. I was concerned with locking it to my car, so I purchased two Lashlocks, and they worked perfectly. Someday I might invest in a cargo box, but for now, the Thule 867 does the job.

Upon helping our daughter move to college in Maine, we developed a bit of a problem when packing up our car. We realized that we needed more space! She has too much stuff! But we didn’t need enough space to warrant a Uhaul, so we decided to get a rooftop bag, and after researching our options, we chose the Tahoe, with its 17 feet of space, feeling that it would suffice. We were able to fit all her extra clothes and pillows, (she sleeps with four!) as well as a bunch of other stuff that we really didn’t think she needed, (but she of course felt differently!) Without fail, it rained, and we were very worried that the contents were going to be wet when we got to UMaine, but to our happy surprise, they were dry. The bottom line is, for a quick fix to a space issue, the Thule Tahoe bag is a great choice, and we feel it was worth the extra money to get the extra weather protection. Wet pillows on our daughter’s first night away from home wouldn’t have been very good at all!

Judy K. asks - What are the dimensions of the 867 luggage carrier bag?
ORS Crew answers - The dimensions are 41"(l) x 34"(w) x 18"(h). Of course height can change a bit depending on how much gear is inside the cargo bag.
Jeff W. asks - Will this work on 2009 GMC Acadia factory side rails (there are no cross bars). Need to confirm before placing order.
ORS Crew answers - All systems go! This works nicely as a 2009 GMC Acadia roof bag and attaches to the side rails for very solid and secure transport.
Carlos Rioja asks - How much weight will this cargo carrier hold on a 2010 Honda Pilot?
ORS Crew answers - The weight limit for this bag (and all others) is actually defined by the weight load rating of the roof itself (which will always be specified in the vehicle owners manual). So for the 2010 Honda Pilot you can hold 150 lbs of cargo in the bag no problem.
Jeffrey_NY asks - Will this work as a 2010 Lexus RX350 cargo luggage Carrier? The car only has the factory side rails, no cross bars.

ORS Crew answers - Good news, you'll have no problems attaching the 867 Tahoe to the side rails on the 2008 Volvo XC70, cross bars are not necessary.
Gregory T. asks - I have a 2009 Nissan Cube with nothing on the roof currently, its bare naked. Will the Tahoe work?
ORS Crew answers - No. You need factory side rails at the minimum for using this cargo luggage bag. Great alternatives are the Yakima FarOut Pro and the Yakima GetOut Pro. These will both work nicely on the bare rooftop of the 2009 Nissan Cube.
Bob McCrory asks - I need to haul luggage, camping equipment and other cargo items. This roof bag looks big enough but are crossbars needed for attaching the Tahoe to a 2008 Chrysler Town & Country? It only has the side rails currently.
ORS crew answers - No need for crossbars, it attaches to the side rails on the 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and delivers rock solid transport of all your cargo gear, luggage, camping equipment etc.
Craig asks - I have a 2010 Mazda CX-9 with side rails only, which appears to be fine. But if you rotate the bag 90 degrees to attach to the rails, do you lose the aerodynamic design & increase resistance? Also, since a zipper would be exposed to the wind, does that compromise the integrity of the bag?
ORS Crew answers - Rotating the bag is absolutely fine. This has been done by several customers in order to achieve a better fit for the bag, i.e. there is more distance between the side rails to fit the bag than there is distance between the two crossbars. You will not lose fuel efficiency, as the bag's soft-sided construction will naturally take on a more aerodynamic appearance at highway speeds. The double walled zipper construction and storm flap will also continue to do a top notch job of resisting water. It is also important to remember that no roof bag can be considered 100% waterproof because the roof bag would have to be submerged under water and allow no water whatsoever inside. Since the roof bag has zippers that are sewn in for strength, the sewing procedure leaves very tiny holes from the needle that could possibly allow a small amount of water in (the Thule 867 Tahoe features premium construction that will prevent this possibility better than virtually all other bags however). Most people just put all their luggage and belongings inside large plastic trash bags before putting them in a roof bag, and then you are all set.
Teresa asks - I am considering purchasing a Thule 867 Tahoe cargo roof bag. I have a 2011 Subaru Forester with factory side rails and a panoramic moon roof. There are currently no cross bars. I am wanting to transport a jogging stroller and maybe other cargo. Will this bag work for me? If so, do I need any other accessories such as lashlocks?
ORS Crew answers - This is a superb choice for using as a 2011 Subaru Forester cargo roof bag, and mounts directly to your side rails (no factory cross bars necessary). The Tahoe is ideal for carrying a baby jogger and will allow enough room for you to carry other misc. gear as well. You do not need any other accessories, although many folks do also use the LashLock locking cables or the Yakima RipCord lock straps as they provide a great way to lock the bag to the vehicle and lock all the gear inside the roof bag.
Christopher H. asks - We just purchased a 2011 Subaru Outback with the cross rails that switch from side to cross. will the 867 Tahoe roof bag work with that? Also, what stops this bag from scratching the roof? Thanks.
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Thule 867 Tahoe lash straps will attach directly to the '11 Subaru Outback side rails, no need to use the cross bars position. The bag has a superbly padded base to prevent any marks or scratches on the roof top. Just make sure to clean the rooftop surface prior to attaching the bag.

The 867 Thule Tahoe cargo roof bag attaches directly to any aftermarket racks including Thule Racks, Inno Racks and Yakima Racks, plus virtually all factory racks too (even vehicles with just factory side rails & no crossbars).
