PLEASE NOTE: The only difference between the 918XTR T2 2 Bike Add-On model and the 918XT T2 2 Bike Add-On model is that Thule Racks upgraded the 918XTR with a cable lock on the end of each SecureHook that pulls out and wraps around the bike for total security. The 918XT version only has a lock on the SecureHook clamp arm. There was much discussion about how you could deflate the tire and get the bike wheel out from the clamp arm even when locked, enabling someone to possibly steal the bike. The new cable lock on the 918XTR T2 Add-On version resolves this issue. You could use a regular bike cable lock on the 918XT T2 Add-On to pretty much accomplish the same level of security.
The Thule 918XT T2 Two Bike Add-On connects directly to the Thule 916XT T2 hitch bike rack, allowing you to transport 2 additional bicycles (for a total of 4 bikes). Thule 918XT T2 includes 2 platform bike trays with SecureHook clamping arms and rear wheel cradles with straps, exactly the same as the 2 platform bike trays on the Thule 916XT T2 bike hitch rack. Includes a 2-pack of Thule locks & keys for locking bikes to the carrier (one lock cylinder inserts into each SecureHook clamping arm, preventing bicycle from being taken from the bike tray when left unattended).
Includes all the same quick-loading bike tray features of the Thule 916XT T2 two bike hitch rack bike trays. Accommodates virtually all bicycle styles and sizes regardless of frame design, suspension, or wheel size - kids bikes and bmx bikes with 20" wheels on up to any style road bike, cruisers, hybrids, freeride-downhill mountain bikes with full suspension, even 29er bikes and ultra-wide 3" tire sizes. Thule 918XT T2 Add-On still allows 916XT T2 to tilt down, even with bicycles loaded, as well as fully fold up for convenient garage parking, parallel parking etc. Compatible with the Thule 916XT T2 2" hitch bike rack only. Will NOT work with the Thule 917XT T2 1-1/4" hitch bike rack, which is only rated for transporting two bicycles. Easy-to-follow Thule 918XT T2 Add-On installation instructions manual included. Good, Solid Rack, That Securely Holds Bikes

The 918XT T2 is a very nice addition to the 916XT. We are able to easily carry 4 bikes without having them rub against each other. It's also nice being able to unload any one of the bikes without having to remove the others. The rack is sturdy and holds the bikes well while traveling down the road. A few couple minor complaints - would be nice if you could order the 918 with locks to match the 916 rather than having to buy all new lock cores. Also state law requires flagging and/or lights on any load that extends 48"+ beyond the back of the vehicle, depending on where you measure from the rack is 50-58" beyond the back of the vehicle. Having a lighting option for the rack would be nice, I tried a hitch mount light but the tube of the rack is the wrong size.

I recently purchased the 2 bike add on for my Thule T2 bike rack. It has made such a difference in carpooling to races. I can fit 4 bikes w/ wheels on the rack and still have plenty of room for passengers with their gear. Well made and easy to put bikes on and install.

ORS Racks Direct crew says - No need to buy any locks with the 918XT T2. It now includes a pair of Thule lock cylinders with keys to lock each bike when loaded in the bike trays.
Felicia asks - I bought the T2 916 from you a while ago (not the new 916XT version). Does the new 918XT add-on also work on the older 916 T2 model?
