 HOW TO INSTALL / INSERT A THULE LOCK
Insert the Thule Universal Change key into the Thule lock, then insert the lock (with the Thule Universal Change key still in it) into the housing of the Thule component to be locked. Push the lock all the way in, place thumb on lock and pull out the Universal Change key. The lock will remain in place and can now be locked and unlocked with the Thule locking keys that came included with the locks. If you are missing the Thule Universal Change key you can simply order that from us. Also, if you are missing all your keys that lock and unlock the Thule lock in the first place, you can order from us the specific keys needed for your Thule locks. Just look at the engraved code number (begins with an "N") on the front face of the Thule lock and then include that code number when ordering keys from us. You can also order extra Thule locks with that same code number as well.

HOW TO UNINSTALL / REMOVE A THULE LOCK
The Thule lock must be in the “un-locked” position, then install the Thule Universal Change key and wiggle it out… voila you have removed your lock… just remember the important thing is the Thule lock must be unlocked, if locked you can't insert the Thule Universal Change key to wiggle the lock out. If you are missing the Thule Universal Change key you can simply order that from us. Also, if you are missing all your keys that lock and unlock the Thule lock in the first place, you can order from us the specific keys needed for your Thule locks. Just look at the engraved code number (begins with an "N") on the front face of the Thule lock and then include that code number when ordering keys from us. ORS Crew answers - That will require a locksmith to do their handy work to remove the broken key or drill out the lock cylinder. Any locksmith can do this for you. You can order Thule replacement keys and locks from us.
JT asks - Will a Thule lock cylinder fit a Yakima rack? If not - do Yakima lock cylinders have the same available key codes as Thule?
ORS Crew answers - Thule lock cylinders are not compatible with Yakima products. You will need to use a Yakima SKS lock core instead. Yakima uses a number code similar to Thule. Yakima code numbers begin with the letter 'A' and are stamped on the keys as well as the side of each SKS lock core.

IrishBagPiper asks - I recently purchased the Podium Foot Pack and a Big Mouth bike rack but did not buy locks for these components. Could you please tell me what is needed to lock the Podium Foot Pack and the bike rack? Thanks.

Four locks insert into the Podium Feet to lock the roof rack to the vehicle, and 1 lock inserts in the Thule 599XT Big Mouth bike rack to simultaneously secure the bike to the carrier and the carrier itself to roof rack cross bars. You'll then have 1 lock left over as a spare or for use with another Big Mouth bike rack or other gear carrier etc.
