The Thule 532 Ride On Adapter is a versatile, universal adaptor that enables almost all Thule roof mount bike carriers (see list of compatible Thule bike carriers below) and other brands of roof mount bike racks to be installed on virtually all car factory rack cross bars. A cost effective alternative that eliminates the need to purchase a Thule Racks multi-purpose base rack system that normally converts/replaces a factory rack. Includes two 32 inch load bars and tamper resistant universal mounting hardware for attachment to the front and rear factory rack crossbars. Then simply mount a Thule bike rack to the Thule 532 Ride-On square load bars. Two bike rack maximum capacity.

The Thule 532 Bike Rack Adapter Kit worked perfectly for my long bike trip from California to Moab Utah. The Thule 532 adapter kit was easy to put on and held both bikes with exceptional strength through high winds for over 1400 miles. I would defintely recommend this item.

I originally looked at the Thule 515 Prologue complete bike rack kit but decided it wasn't for me because I wanted an upright style bike rack (the kind you don't have to take the front wheel off when loading the bike). Instead I went with the Thule 532 factory rack adapter kit and 2 Thule 599XTR Big Mouth bike racks. I am very happy with this choice. The 532 works perfectly on my 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee factory rack and installed quick and easy. The bike racks attached to the 532 cross bars perfectly too. Highly recommend to others.

Doug asks - Do the clamps work on a 2005 Chevy TrailBlazer factory installed luggage rack. ie: do they fit around the crossbars?
RACKDAWG answers - No the 532 RideOn won't work on the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer factory rack crossbars. However Yakima Racks has some great options like the Yakima Raptor Aero, Yakima FrontLoader and Yakima ForkLift, all will connect directly to your factory bars.

russpro12 asks - Will this work on my 2009 Lexus RX350 factory cross bars? Also I have two older fork mount Thule bike racks that I had on my old vehicle? Will they attatch to the Ride-On as well?
ORS Crew answers - Absolutely, the Thule 532 Ride-On fits the 2009 Lexus RX350 roof rack factory cross bars perfectly. You'll also be able to attach your current older model fork mount Thule bike racks directly to the 532 Ride-On cross bars.
M.T.McIntire asks - Are longer bars available to replace the 32" bars? I'd like to also carry two standup paddle boards and two surfboards stacked side-by-side.
ORS Crew answers - Unfortunately you cannot upgrade to longer bars with the 532 Ride-On. Also the mounting adapters are not rated to handle the weight of the load you want to carry. Instead, you would want to install an aftermarket roof rack system (most likely attaching to factory side rails on your vehicle). You can then choose longer cross bars when selecting a complete base rack system. This system will also be rated to safely handle your anticipated gear load configuration. E. Stephens asks - Will the Thule 532 Ride On fit the factory / OEM rack for my 2008 VW Rabbit?
ORS Crew says - All set, this works on the 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit OEM / factory rack crossbars, allowing you to then attach bike carriers to the adapter kit bars.
C. Russell - How much weight will the Thule 532 Ride On Adapter handle? Can I use it to secure a tandem bike on a tandem bike mount or several whitewater kayaks with a kayak stacker mount?
ORS Crew answers - Despite the load bars having the same construction and specifications as regular Thule square load bars (which have a 165 lbs. max load weight rating), the mounting clamps that the load bars attach to do significantly reduce the overall max load weight rating for the 532 RideOn. Thule Racks specifies two bike racks with bicycles mounted as the maximum set up. Thus it is not recommended for attaching kayak racks. Also Thule Racks also expressly prohibits the use of tandem bike racks on the 532 Ride On.
Dave asks - Can I mount this carrier directly to 2003 Lexus RX 300 factory rack cross bars or do I need to first attach the Ride On adapter kit?
ORS Crew answers - You cannot attach roof mount bike racks, including the Thule 599XTR Big Mouth, directly to the 2003 Lexus RX300 factory crossbars. Instead you will first need to attach the Thule 532 Ride-On adapter kit to the 2003 Lexus RX 300 cross bars. You can then connect the 599XTR Big Mouth to the cross bars included with the 532 Ride-On kit.
Alison S. asks - I have a couple older Thule rooftop bike racks that are still in excellent condition. I want to mount the two racks onto the factory crossbars of a Subaru Forester. The mounting clamps (threaded on one side and nail looking mount on the other side) are not wide enough to fit the crossbars. Will this adapter kit allow me to mount the two older racks onto the Subaru Forester factory cross bars?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, we highly recommend the Thule 532 Ride-On adapter kit for your needs. Mounts to the factory cross bars, then you simply clamp your older model Thule bike racks to the 532 Ride On cross bars.

ORS Crew answers - Absolutely, this is a confirmed and sanctioned fit for the factory cross rails (also called cross bars) on both the 2004 Chrysler Pacifica and 2009 Chrysler Town & Country.
