The complete Yakima 1A Raingutter roof rack system is the most versatile multi-purpose base rack solution for cars, vans and pickup trucks with rain gutters. Simple to install, the built-in clamps grab onto raingutters with a rock solid grip. The Yakima 1A Raingutter Towers fully adjust to non-parallel raingutters as well. We highly recommend a four pack of Yakima Locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock the rack to vehicle.
The Yakima 1A Raingutter complete roof rack system includes all 2 components that are necessary for installing a general-purpose base rack, providing the platform that will allow you to then connect roof mount gear carriers that carry your gear and equipment:
- Four (4) Yakima 0101 1A Raingutter Towers.
- Two (2) Yakima Cross bars (bar end caps included).
Height is 7-1/4" tall from the base of the 1A Tower to the top of the cross bar. An additional Hi-Rise spacer kit (not included; see accessory add-ons below) option will allow you to convert the regular Yakima 1A Towers to be 3-1/2" taller at 10-3/4" tall. (Also available as the complete Yakima 1A Hi-Rise roof rack system.)
This system also works superbly with the Yakima Side Loader artificial raingutter brackets (not included; see accessory add-ons below) on pickup truck caps, camper shells etc. Zytel nylon absorbs road shock and won't damage your raingutters. Will pivot to line up with raingutters that are out of parallel. Can be locked to the vehicle using a 4-pack of Yakima Racks SKS Lock Cores (not included; see accessory add-ons below). Easier Than Expected, Few Problems

The roof rack system installed easier than expected on the van rain gutters, and worked fabulously. Our only issue with it is the end caps, if installed, are difficult to get off, and do not allow the cross bar to be removed from the feet.

ROB13 asks - Will the Yakima 1A RainGutter Tower system fit on a 2001 BMW 740i, I have been told by other owners not to use the Q-Towers and get the RainGutter. I used the Yakima Racks automated fitment guide on your website, but always lead to Q-Towers? Please advise.
ORS Crew answers - The Yakima 1A Towers model is only compatible with BMW 740i models up to 1995. Any year after that you will need to use the Yakima Q Towers roof rack system (select two pairs of the Q4 clips, and the 48 inch crossbars are the recommended length for the 2001 BMW 740i rooftop. The Q Towers system is very easy to install and includes detailed instructions. Helpful video also included on the Q Tower product page.
TC Chen asks - I am looking for a roof rack for a 1991 Mercedes Benz 300SD sedan with rain gutters. I assume this is the correct choice? Need to confirm before ordering. Thanks.
ORS Crew answers - Yes we do highly recommend the Yakima 1A RainGutter system for a 1991 Mercedes 300SD car rack. Mounts quickly to the raingutters. Also, select the 58 inch length cross bars for that vehicle.
