The Yakima TubeTop Frame Adapter (8002531) connects easily between the seat post and handlebars on bikes that don't have a standard top tube frame running level and straight between the handlebars and seatpost, allowing much easier loading and transport of bicycles on any hanging-style hitch bike racks and trunk bike racks. The Yakima Tube Top modifies women's bikes, kid's & bmx bikes and other non-standard bike frames (such as freeride / downhill bikes etc.) with a level bar that mounts quickly, snugly and securely to the bike rack cradles.
Effectively creates a traditional top-tube type structure on the bike frame for effortless mounting of the bike on any trunk bike racks or hanging-style hitch bike racks. This is the solution for difficult fitting kid’s, bmx, women’s, and odd-shaped bike frames.

I needed to pick up some of these with a new hitch-mounted bike rack because some of our family's bikes do not have a horizontal top tube. I have always been happy with Yakima products and this is no exception. There isn't much to the devices, but they are solid and easy to use. One thing to note is that you may have to raise the seat height if it is lowered all the way down to be able to use the adapter.

Betsy M. asks - What is the minimum distance from seat post to handle bar for this adapter? I've got 2 kids bikes that measure 15-1/2 inches. Most adapters state 20" minimum.
ORS Crew answers - Great question, the shortest distance is 14", so you are good. Also the maximum distance it can extend is 30".
