The simple and economical Yakima LandShark Kayak Rack (8004030) has sleek, flexible and grippy kayak saddles that safely and securely transport all types of kayaks. All four saddles included. Also requires a pair of heavy-duty load straps (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below). The Yakima Land Shark mounts directly to Yakima base rack cross bars, Inno Racks crossbars and Thule square load bars. Also will connect to virtually all factory roof rack cross bars when used in combination with two sets of either the Yakima Horizontal or Universal Mighty Mounts (not included; see accessory add-ons below). Please note if connecting to factory rack crossbars the LandShark DOES REQUIRE two sets of MightyMounts adapters (see accessory add-ons below).

Jeff asks - I need a type of kayak saddle carrier that will bolt to my pickup trucks aftermarket Headache rack. The Headache rack tubing is 1.5" square. I would like the saddles to be universal to support different models of kayaks. I was thinking that somehting with a ubolt style bracket would be what I need but I just can't seem to find any information on what would work best.
ORS Crew answers - Good news, any universal fit kayak saddles will work fine on the Headache rack, the Land Shark is a good choice but remember that you will need to also purchase a set of Yakima Universal MightMounts adapters to allow the LandShark kayak saddles to mount to the Headache rack. Better options are the Yakima Mako Aero saddles and the Thule 878XT Set-to-Go saddles as they attach directly to the Headache and work with a huge range of kayak styles, shapes and sizes.

If loading kayak from the rear of the vehicle we highly recommend the Thule 854 Water Slide Mat (not included; see accessory add-ons above) for simultaneously protecting your vehicle and also gaining extra assistance when loading and unloading a boat.

We highly recommend the Yakima BoatLocker, Kayak Lasso, SteelCore locking straps or the Lashlock kayak lock system (all sold separately; see accessory add-ons above) to protect your boat from theft.
We recommend purchasing Yakima Accessory Lock Housing (not included; see accessory add-ons above) to lock LandShark Saddles to your base rack crossbars. Each Yakima Lock Housing unit requires one Yakima SKS lock core.
