The Yakima MegaWarrior Cargo Basket Rack (8007080) is the ultimate rugged and versatile roof carrier that accommodates all kinds of gear including bikes, snowboards & skis, kayaks, canoes, luggage, camping equipment and much more! Attaches directly to Yakima round cross bars, all styles of Thule load bars, Inno Racks crossbars and virtually all factory roof rack crossbars. Includes a pair of integrated cross bars on the Yakima Mega Warrior basket which allow you to mount any Yakima gear carriers directly to the basket, and the integrated front cross bar can be moved to any position for perfect spacing requirements of any Yakima Racks gear carrier attachments.

A Very Strong Carrier

Overall, great buy and great product. I found this carrier to be made of lightweight material, yet once combined it is structurally sound. I know this because after installing, my son tried to drive into the garage and slammed it into the garage door framing. It knocked it askew, but didn't bend or harm it, the securing brackets took the force and gave a little. I loosened and straightened the carrier and tightened mounts and it was ready to roll. A lot more work fixing the garage framing. I would say that putting it together, make sure and only insert a slight bit of the male ends in and then do the other side, it fits very tight and if you insert one end too far, it makes it very hard to insert the opposite side. The only item I wasn't real happy with was the screws that accompany the items, they strip out very easily, I would recommend Yakima find a supplier that provides quality hardware and for that matter for what you pay, they should send all who have purchased new hardware that won't strip. Now you can get enough of the screw in for a solid installation, but I would prefer to be able to seat the screws as designed.
Solid Cargo basket

I wanted two things on my roof. A cargo basket and a bike rack. I was concerned that they both wouldn't fit at the same time, but that didn't turn out to matter, because the MegaWarrior comes with an extra crossbar that you use with the frame so you can attach your bike rack. Or ski rack or kayak rack for that matter. I think this is a great feature. Regarding the basket itself, it is very sturdy and holds lots of gear. I would definitely suggest a cargo net though. This basket is solid and holds a ton of stuff. I give it the highest marks.
Awesome Basket and Light Mounting Base

The Yakima MegaWarrior Basket and Extension with Light Brackets are attached to roof rack cross bars on 60" tracks on the fiberglass camper shell. So far I have been very pleased with the quality and strength of the MegaWarrior Basket and extension. I not only use the basket for extra room to transport bulky cargo to my hunting camp, but also as a strong base to install four 9" off road lights. I had an issue with rack being damaged in shipment but the guys at ORSRACKSDIRECT were very helpful and a new one was immediately shipped out. Thanks!

Mike S. asks - How much height will the basket add to my vehicle. I am planning to add it to my 2010 Subaru Outback factory cross rails.
ORS Crew - Both the Yakima baskets (MegaWarrior and LoadWarrior) have a height of 6.5", so add that onto the height of your cross bars above the Subaru Outback roof top. Here is a good 2010 Subaru Outback MegaWarrior basket customer install picture.
Todd C. asks - I currently own a Yakima rack with two sets of Yakima LandShark kayak racks attached to the cross bars for hauling 2 recreational kayaks on a 1997 Ford Escort. I now have a 2011 Subaru Outback wagon and want to attach the bsket to the Subaru Outback wagon factory cross rails. Will the 2 sets of LandShark kayak racks mount on the roof basket?
ORS Crew answers - The Yakima MegaWarrior basket will attach directly to the 2011 Subaru Outback factory cross bars, a great choice that many Subaru Outback owners are selecting. The integrated cross bars on the MegaWarrior are 48 inches wide. This might not be wide enough for carrying two kayaks flat and side by side using the two sets of Yakima LandSharks. Often times this configuration requires 58 inch length cross bars. However, if your current Yakima base rack is using 48 inch bars then you are all set. It all depends on how wide your 2 kayaks are when placed side by side. A good test is to place your kayaks on the ground side by side and then position the Yakima LandShark saddles under the two kayaks. Then measure the distance of the outer most Land Shark clamp on one of the kayaks over to the outermost clamp on the other kayak. If this is less than 48”, you can be sure the two kayak racks will work on the MegaWarrior basket for carrying your 2 kayaks. Otherwise, it would be best to continue using one set of the Yakima LandShark kayak saddles for 1 kayak and use a j-cradle style kayak rack for carrying the other kayak. The j-cradles use up less crossbar space, carrying the kayak tilted on its side, and will allow enough room on the Mega Warrior roof basket 48 inch cross bars for 2 kayaks.

Roof bags (not included; see accessory add-ons above) will also attach to roof basket for an excellent cargo transport set-up to organize basket contents and protect from foul weather.
