The Yakima Big Powderhound snowboard / ski rack includes universal mounts making it compatible with virtually all factory roof rack cross bars. That's right the Yakima Big Powder Hound mounts directly to factory installed roof racks and any after-market base rack cross bars including Yakima Racks round bars, Thule Racks square, oval Rapid Aero & Xsporter truck rack bars, Inno roofrack crossbars etc. Includes a pair of Yakima SKS Locks for simultaneously locking equipment inside carrier and the carrier itself to the car rack crossbars. I bought the Yakima Big Powderhound last winter and was able to put it to good use. It was easy to install, is nice looking, and seems sturdy enough. No major issues so far, just a minor one. Maybe mine is an exception, but the spring that is meant to hold the rack open could be stronger. This doesn’t affect the overall function of the rack, just makes loading and unloading more difficult than I feel they intended. Otherwise, this is a very decent product that, considering it can carry six pairs of skis, is a great deal. I would recommend it.

The Big Powderhound may not be as snazzy as the Fat Cat, but for sixty bucks less, I can handle that. It does a good job, even when fully loaded. Clamps down easily and securely. The lift feature is nice too. It would be cool if Yakima threw in the locks, those cost quite a bit extra. I’m happy with it.
