The premium Yakima BigStack kayak rack (8004041) now offers simple push lever technology to fold the BigStack upright posts down flat forward or backward when not in use. Instantly solves any overhead clearance issues, improves aerodynamics and best of all relieves you from looking like you have a pair of 1970's era car phone antennas mounted to your roof rack! The included universal mounts allow the Yakima Big Stack kayak carrier to fasten directly to virtually all factory rack cross bars as well as any aftermarket roof rack bars including Yakima bars, any Thule roof rack bars and Inno Racks crossbars. The Yakima BigStack can also lock to roof rack using a 2-pack of Yakima Locks (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below).
The Yakima 04041 BigStack kayak rack features a very narrow profile and takes up the least amount of rooftop space and can accommodate several kayaks stacked on their sides (boats can be stacked on either side or both sides of BigStack uprights). The kayak stacker post is padded for total boat and vehicle protection. AnchorHead tie-down feature makes this the easist kayak stacking carrier to strap down boats to. Includes front and rear folding Yakima BigStack posts, all universal mounting hardware, 2 heavy-duty straps with padded buckles and a pair of Yakima Bow/Stern ratcheting tie-down straps for securing kayak front and rear during travel (for each additional kayak we recommend adding another pair of Yakima Bow/Stern tie-down straps, see accessory add-ons below).

Works Good but Recommend Inno INA451 Cradles With Them

I read previous reviews about the Yakima BigStack kayak rack that said they did not hold two or more kayaks very safely. However, using the Inno INA451 cradles, I carried the two 13.5' kayaks at 80 mph with no problems at all. (I could see how there could be issues if you you tried to carry using the BigStacks or Thule's Stacker Racks without these cradles.)

We also recommend the Yakima BoatLocker, Kayak Lasso, SteelCore straps or the Lashlock kayak lock system (all sold separately; see accessory add-ons above) to lock and protect your kayak(s) from theft.
