The complete Yakima Control Towers roof rack system creates a strong and sturdy multi-purpose roof rack system for cars and trucks with a factory rack and track system. The included Yakima Landing Pads snap into the factory rack tracks, replacing the weak and/or incompatible factory rack setup. The Yakima Control Towers then simply attach to the Landing Pads. This system also works with all Yakima permanently installed Tracks and vehicles with pre-installed fixed attachment points provided by the vehicle manufacturer. Also permanently mounts to Yakima #7 Landing Pads (for metal surfaces) & Yakima #6 Landing Pads (for fiberglass surfaces) for fiberglass truck cap, camper shell or tonneau cover etc & sheet metal roofs that have no factory rack already. Set of four Landing Pad Covers also included for providing a finished look when Yakima Control Towers roof rack system is removed and only Landing Pads are left on rooftop (Covers simply snap onto Landing Pads). We highly recommend a four pack of Yakima Locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock the rack to vehicle.
The Yakima Control Towers complete roof rack includes all 3 components that are necessary for installing a general-purpose base rack, providing the platform that will allow you to then connect roof mount gear carriers that carry your gear and equipment:
- Four (4) Yakima 0214 Contol Towers.
- Four (4) Yakima Landing Pads (specific to your vehicle; see ordering notes below).
- Two (2) Yakima Cross Bars (bar end caps included).

We installed the Control Towers in 20 minutes and the bars and locks in another 10 minutes. Everything worked great and our current Thule Roof Box fit on the Yakima racks without any drilling, perfect hole matchup. Thank you ORS!

Control towers are the way to go if you have the option of either those or the Q-Towers. Not that there's anything wrong with the Q-Towers, its just that the Control Towers look a lot cleaner and are way easier to install than the Qs. I had Q-Towers on my last vehicle and was able to reuse my bars and I can say that I like the Control Towers much, much more.

Yakima Control Towers are great. So much easier to deal with than the Q-Towers. You can just "set 'em, and forget 'em. They don’t need to be constantly readjusted and the Landing Pads mounted in the Dodge Factory Tracks perfectly. They go on so easily and can be removed from the car easily. In the winter, I just take the whole system off with my three bike attachments still attached. Couldn't be more convenient.
Better than factory rack. Easy on/off.

Mazda (US version) takes landing pads LP11. Mounting (with the included easy drill of the black strips) is about 30 minutes. Once complete landing pads and towers are easy on/off. Much better than factory racks since you can take them off and save gas and eliminate wind noise. Even the landing pads are easy on/off, but in reality they're so inconspicuous that you MAYBE bother to take them off once a season. Great value, easy install.

Michael asks - I'm confused about the 86 inch cross bars option. Is this what I need for a popup camper? Do end caps come with them just like all the other cross bars choices come with end caps?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the 86" bars are specifically made for applications such as pop up campers etc. They are thicker than the normal Yakima 48", 58", 66" and 78" round crossbars, so they need different end caps. You will receive end caps specific to the 86" bars and the additional cost is included in the additional cost of the 86" bars when selecting this size in the crossbars option drop down box when ordering this package. If selecting any shorter cross bars size, you will receive end caps to fit them at no additional cost.
Brad K. asks - I'm looking at the Yakima Control Towers, Landing Pads and cross bars for a 2005 Honda CRV with fixed mount points. Will this work? What is the racks weight limit?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, the Yakima Control Towers roof rack (includes four Control Towers, four LP8 Landing Pads and pair of 48” cross bars) is a superb match and fits the 2005 Honda CRV fixed mounting points. This has a max weight limit of 125 lbs. Again, the #8 Landing Pads LP8 are the model needed for the 05 Honda CR-V fixed points.
Musky asks - I have a Fleetwood tent trailer with factory roof tracks. Which landing pads do I need to order?
CRITTER3 responds - Use the Yakima LP1 Landing Pads for the Fleetwood Tent Trailer tracks on the roof. My Fleetwood Tent Trailer roof rack is the Yakama Control Tower system too. I love it!
J.J.M. asks - I have Yakima Control Towers and bars on the cap of my Dodge truck using the LP1 Landing Pads on Yakima Roof Tracks. I want to buy a set of Landing Pads for a 2010 Honda CR-V so I can then switch the Control Tower rack between the topper and CR-V. What Landing Pads do I need for the CRV?
ORS Crew answers - You will need the LP10 Landing Pads, which attach to the 2010 Honda CRV fixed rack attachment points on the rooftop.
gkallio asks - Will this work as a 2010 Honda Element roof rack? I have many Yakima accessories that I would like to attach to the cross bars if it does work.
ORS Crew answers - Yes we highly recommend the Yakima Control Towers system as a '10 Honda Element roof rack. Using the included LP9 Landing Pads it easily mounts to the pre-placed points (fixed-points) located on the Honda Element rooftop. Also includes a pair of 58 inch cross bars (you can choose any length cross bars, but be sure they are at least the 58" length as any shorter and they won't be long enough to span across the Honda Element rooftop.) Easy instructions included for installation.
Henry Lauchland asks - Does the Yakima Control Towers with the LP1 Landing Pad work on the Thule track system that comes on the Leer camper shell?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Yakima Landing Pad 1 is fully compatible with all Thule roof tracks.
John H. asks - Any known issues with using the Thule 897XT Hullavator kayak rack with the Yakima Control Tower / Landing Pad 12 setup on a 2010-12 Subaru Outback wagon?
ORS Crew answers - This is a Thule Racks confirmed and sanctioned fit, the 897XT is a great choice for use as a new model Subaru Outback kayak rack and attaches nicely to the Yakima Control Towers / Landing Pad 12 / round crossbars system.

Demonstration movie of the Yakima Racks Control Tower system, in this case used as a complete multi-purpose base rack for a vehicle with factory fixed point rack attachment locations on the car rooftop. The Yakima Landing Pads 11 ( LP11 ) connect to the Mazda 3 fixed attachment points, and the Control Towers snap onto the Landing Pads. A pair of Yakima crossbars is also included. With this multi-purpose car rack installed, you can then connect any gear carriers to the base rack cross bars. There are several Yakima Landing Pads available for use with specific vehicle fixed attachment points. This is just one example of the Yakima Control Towers and Landing Pads versatility.
