Perfect Rack for Lexus SUV

I looked at many racks before settling on the Doubledown 2. I had to add a trailer hitch to my wife's RX330 for this to work, but the resulting combo has to be close to the perfect bike transport solution. If you have the Lexus RX series or Toyota Highlander SUV, Toyota's hitch option is very expensive. I was able to find an aftermarket hitch on eBay for 1/3 the cost and installed it myself in less than 15 minutes via 6 easily accessible bolts. I don't pull a trailer, so I didn't bother installing a taillight wiring harness (a bit of a pain on the Lexus / Toyota). Regarding the rack itself, its extremely well made, and its simple design makes it very easy to use. Bikes mount quickly and securely, and the tilt down mechanism is a very simple affair ... pull up on a single easy to operate release knob, and the entire rack rotates down to allow clearance for the lift gate to rise. This is a great feature, and can be done with both bikes mounted or when the rack is empty. How many times have you forgotten something or needed to put something in the back of the vehicle after the rack is mounted on the car? Yeah, me too. Speaking of mounting the rack on the car, this couldn't be easier. The rack slips into the square receiver of the trailer hitch, and a single, substantial threaded bolt spins in to hold it all tight. You can take it on or off your car in less than 60 seconds. This is a rock solid rack. With both bikes mounted, there is virtually no swaying of the rack/bikes front to back or side to side while driving, even at highway speeds. Get the optional lock kit; it adds a self-storing cable/lock to lock the bikes to the rack and a second lock to lock the rack to the hitch. One key works both locks. I'm really happy with this rack. It has to be the easiest way out there to carry bikes on a car, and there's no risk of a bike damaging your car's paint. Highly recommended.
