Tired of feeling left out of the factory rack compatible bike rack club just because you prefer the look and functionality of fork mount bike racks? Well fret no more buckaroos...the premium Yakima ForkLift Rike Rack (8002098) is fully compatible with virtually all factory rack crossbars, as well as Yakima rack bars, all Whispbar, any style of Thule rack bars (Thule square & AeroBlade bars etc.) and Inno Racks square crossbars. And forget about needing any additional factory rack adapter clamps or Yakima MightyMount adapters when attaching this fork mount bike carrier to factory roof rack bars, the Yakima ForkLift has a sleek universally compatible factory rack clamp integrated right into the front fork block head. Yakima Racks is also continuing with innovative design styling. Gone is the ho-hum classic black bike tray. Instead, Yakima unveils new design-styling and technical sophistication with bike tray design that includes dual-extruded tubing and a sliding adjustable rear wheel holder and ratcheting wheel strap that can be ratcheted from either side for convenience. No tools required for attaching to factory crossbars either.
The Yakima ForkLift works equally well with all types of bicycles, from skinny tire road bikes to fat knobby tire mountain bikes, and is compatible with disc-brakes too. We also highly recommend a Yakima SKS lock & key (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock your oh-so-expensive bicycle to the Yakima Fork Lift bike rack. And as an extra incentive to purchase a Yakima SKS lock, you'll be glad to know when the quick-release skewer is locked closed using a Yakima lock core, it not only locks the bike to the ForkLift but also prevents anyone from being able to undo the bike rack and walk away with the rack itself (and the bike in the rack). With the Yakima Forklift factory rack compatible bike rack both you and your bike will be sitting pretty.
- Yakima Fork Lift has a spiffy, sleek new design style with automotive finish.
- New universal ergonomic long-throw skewer with easy to use integrated adjustment knob that quickly grasps bike fork. One-handed adjustment. Set it once and forget about having to adjust again.
- Accommodates all disc-brake / suspension combinations with standard 9mm axles (see accessory add-ons below for fork adapters to use with other styles/sizes of axles, Cannondale Lefty, Maverick etc).
- Fits both skinny road bike tires and fat mountain bike tires and everything in between with no adapters necessary.
- Yakima Racks SKS lock core recommended (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to simultaneously secure bicycle inside carrier and ForkLift bike rack itself to car rack crossbars.
- Mounts directly to virtually all factory racks. Also fits Yakima round bars, all Whispbar, Inno roof rack bars, Thule square & AeroBlade bars, etc.
- Completely secure at high speeds and on rough roads.
- Bike wheeltray and fully-adjusting wheelstrap fits the widest range of tires and rims, even high-profile rims.
- All hardware and rear wheelstrap included.
- Yakima 8002098 ForkLift easy-install instructions included.

Great Price, Easy to Install and Quality
this Yakima ForkLift review by Avid Cyclist in Ohio
vehicle year/make/model: 2000 Subaru Legacy wagon

You can get Yakima Racks high quality at a great price. Quick and easy installation for a secure bike rack to confidently hold my road or mountain bike. It fit my Subaru Legacy factory rack crossbars as advertised. If you are considering this rack, consider no longer, just order it and you won't be disappointed.
Works Perfectly the way I needed it to!
this Yakima ForkLift review by Tim
vehicle(s): 2010 Pontiac Vibe
item(s) transported: 2 bikes
These racks are perfect! I needed to get a rack that would work with my factory crossbars that would actually allow me to lock the bike to the car without using a cable that would bounce around and scratch something. This was the ONLY rack that I could find that offered what I wanted. I put the racks on "backwards" so I was also still able to open the hatch on the back of my 2010 pontiac vibe. It works great!
Works on Saris Roof Rack!!!
this Yakima ForkLift review by ADavis
vehicle(s): 1995 Saturn SL1
item(s) transported: mountain bike
I bought this to transport my bike on a regular basis due to previous rack being too narrow to hold an extra wide mountain bike tire. After seeing that it is factory rack compatible, I had to give it a try on a Saris roof rack. Although it seems bulky, it is exactly what I was looking for especially the features. What is great about this rack is that it locks the bike and the tray to the roof rack which is a big plus in purchasing it. The ORS Racks Direct customer service was wonderful in letting me know that this rack would fit a wide tire since mine are 2.5 inches wide. The only minor issue I have is that the rear wheel strap slides back and forth while driving and braking without a bike attached, but it is a minor issue that I can live with. I am very satisfied with it.
Works Awesome On My Factory Rack
this Yakima ForkLift review by highroadMT
I like Yakima Racks a lot, so I was very psyched to find out they finally came out with a roof mount bike rack that works on factory racks. In the past you always needed to have a Yakima base roofrack system with Yakima round bars to attach any of their fork mount bike racks. That was an expensive solution considering all the other bike rack companies out there that already offer factory rack fork mount bike rack options. The Fork Lift looks really nice on my Nissan Pathfinder factory rack and the installation couldn't be simpler. The instructions were easy to follow, and all I had to do was wrap the fork block head claw around the front crossbar and then tighten the knob to secure it. The rear clamp was easy to tighten on the rear crossbar too. I really love the quick release skewer. Instead of having to use 2 hands to adjust both sides of the skewer like normal, you just turn the red knob to tighten once and never have to fool around with it again. It's so quick to load my bike. Definitely recommend using a lock in the skewer. This takes advantage of the cool feature that both locks the bike and the ForkLift bike rack to the roofrack crossbars. This is an awesome option for anyone that wants to use a fork mount bike rack on a factory car rack.
So Fast, It Allows Me More Time to Ride!
this Yakima ForkLift review by Brad Furgusen
This is by far the best fork mount bike rack I've ever owned. I chose it specifially because it works on factory racks. But the quality of the Fork Lift bike carrier is very impressive. The locking skewer has an amazing design. I can't believe how easy it is to adjust and get my bike on and secured. More time to ride!
I am Very Pleased!
this Yakima ForkLift review by Mike in Maryland
I just purchased Yakima Rail Grabs, Fork Lift, Wheel Fork, and several components. The entire experience from beginning to end was excellent. ORS Racks Direct customer service was top notch (I had even e-mailed with a question and received a call with the answer within the hour - amazing!). Everything was shipped immediately and showed up as requested. Iím very pleased - this is my first purchase through these guys and certainly will not be the last.
Best solution for factory racks
this Yakima ForkLift review by PaddlesUp
vehicle year/make/model: 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX
item(s) transported: road bikes and mountain bikes
This rack fits better than the factory bike rack for my factory crossbars. The build quality is fantastic and the bikes feel rock solid on it. The ratcheting rear-wheel strap is a great added touch. Installation was a snap. The only flaw I see with this this product is the rear wheel tray. In order to look different from other racks, the rear tire sits on a small tray that slides along the rack. You need a third hand to position the tray while you have the bike in your hands. Other than that, fantastic product!
Discuss the Yakima ForkLift factory rack compatible bike rack. Use the form below to fire away with your questions, answers and general comments about this product.
Capn.Charlie asks -I'm wondering if the Fork Lift works with 29er mountain bikes which can be quite large.
ORS Crew answers - Yes the Yakima ForkLift works with 29er bikes.
ORS Crew explains - Also optionally available for this bike rack are the 8880229 Yakima Extended Length Rear Wheel Straps which add an additional 2.5 inches of length.
Roger asks - Does it work on 2008 Honda Pilot factory rack bars?
ORS Crew answers - Yes it mounts directly to the factory rack crossbars on the 08 Honda Pilot.
W.Swanson asks - Will this work on my 2007 Mini Cooper factory cross bars?
ORS Crew answers - Yes, it makes a great 2007 Mini Cooper bike rack. It connects directly to the factory crossbars.
Ed asks - Looking at getting a bike rack that will work with my Subaru Outback factory cross bars. Yakima (ForkLift Universal), Rocky Mt, Inno and Thule all have options. Has anyone done a head-to-head comparison? Also, are any of them made in the U.S.A.?
Bo Scoggin answers - Nothing formal, but I did get into a store that had most options, so could see them up close and hands on. I ultimately went with the Fork Lift. Won hands down for my needs, looks, ease of use etc. I do know the RockyMounts Noose is made in the USA. The Thule 513 Domestique did not exist when I bought my Fork Lift but it looks like a cool new option. About the same price I think.
Mark Leverson asks - I was looking into installing a couple ForkLift bike racks on my 2007 Toyota Sequoia factory rack bars. However the factory cross bars have a bow in them, so it looks like the bikes will not mount straight up and down? Do you see this as a problem?
ORS Crew answers - The ForkLift is designed to accommodate factory rack crossbars with a bow in them. Additionally, simply mount each ForkLift on the crossbars as close to the edges where they meet the side rails, taking advantage of the most strength and rigiditiy in the cross bars.
Brett asks - Has anyone had issues with Subaru Impreza hatches. I am wondering if when you open the hatch it hits the rear tire tray?
Chris H. responds - I have a couple Forklifts on my 2008 Subau Impreza WRX and the rear hatch opens fine. If you do have a problem you could always just flip the bike rack around so the bike is facing backwards. Definitely no chance of contact that way.
PedalFast asks - Confused as to whether I can use this on the 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid factory rack cross bars?
ORS Crew answers - Unfortunately is will not work on the 08 Ford Escape Hybrid factory crossbars. However, the Thule 513 Domestique bike rack is a superb alternative if you are interested in fork mount bike racks. If you are also considering upright mount style bike racks (no need to take the front wheel off) then the Yakima FrontLoader and Yakima Raptor Aero are excellent options that will mount directly to the factory bars.
Betsy M. asks - What is the minimum wheel size this bicycle carrier can use? I have 2 kids bikes with wheel sizes 16" and 14".
ORS Crew answers - There is no minimum wheel size restriction. As long as the bikes have typical front wheel quick release skewers, the Fork Lift will work. The rear bike wheel strap can slide and position anywhere along the bike tray.
P. Kaufman asks - Need to confirm this works on 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring factory installed cross bars (5-door model). Thanks.
ORS Crew answers - No worries, mounts directly to the factory installed crossbars on the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Touring 5DR.
