We just bought 2 Frontloader bike racks. We love them. They are very easy to use and very secure while we are driving and I am over all pleased with the item. The only draw back is that it doesn't hold my son's 16" wheel-size bike.

Install/uninstall in minutes, super easy. Would recommend mounting bike front facing the back because of the back hatch. Overall great design and price. Just like the product video shows.
Easy to Install, Easier to Use.
this Yakima FrontLoader bike rack review by Mike
vehicle year/make/model: 2006 Toyota Tacoma double-cab
item(s) transported: 26" Mountain Bikes (2 at a time)
Installation of the racks on the factory-style after market roof rails was very straightforward and easy despite the 100 degree heat. As awkward as it is to hoist a full-size mountain bike up to the roof of an off road pickup, the design of the front wheel holder ensures that the bike will stay put at least long enough for one to get the strap over the rear rim and cinch down the front wheel clamshell. The sole detriment is not even a design flaw of the rack, but rather certain factory bar spacing. Since the Toyota factory-style rails have a set position, this directly affected the positioning of the rear wheel trays. This, in turn, placed the rear wheel of one brand of bike directly over the head of the fixing bolt and made it impossible to get the strap over the high-profile rim. This was easily remedied by changing the front wheel clamshell setting from 26" to 29" allowing the bike to move further forward. The clamshell was still secure enough that over 120 miles of 70mph driving did nothing to dislodge the bike. A very nice product!

Tim asks - What is the difference between the FrontLoader and the HighRoller?
ORS Crew answers - Great question. There really isn’t much that separates the considerably more expensive HighRoller and the cheaper priced FrontLoader except that the HighRoller has a rear wheel strap that can be accessed from either side of the bike tray. Unlike the FrontLoader, which will mount directly to factory rack cross bars, the HighRoller will NOT connect directly to factory racks however, you would need to use a set of Yakima Universal MightyMounts clamps with the HighRoller to connect it to factory rack crossbars. Also, while you can use a Yakima SKS lock in the integrated locking cable on the HighRoller to lock the bicycle to the HighRoller, you can’t simply use another Yakima SKS lock core to lock the HighRoller itself to the roof rack. You would have to also purchase a Yakima Lock Housing Unit to insert a lock core into. The FrontLoader, however, offers the convenience of simply using a Yakima 2-pack of locks to lock the bicycle to the carrier, via the integrated cable lock, and also the FrontLoader itself to the roof rack by inserting a lock directly into the front end of the carrier. Basically, Yakima Racks first released the HighRoller, then a couple years later realized they needed to offer a similar bike rack that connects directly to factory racks and will also optionally lock to the vehicle. The FrontLoader also uses the same very sleek low-profile bike tray as found on the fork mount style Yakima ForkLift bike rack. So really, unless you feel strongly about the need for a two-sided rear wheel strap, you will want to choose the cheaper priced FrontLoader bike rack over the HighRoller. And you’ll be gaining better security features and the ability to attach the carrier directly to factory racks.
Aaron E. asks - I want to carry 2 bikes on my 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe factory rack cross rails. Will this bike rack work? Also considering the Yakima Raptor Aero and ForkLift models. Do I need Mighty Mount adapters or anything?
ORS Crew answers - No worries, the Yakima FrontLoader, Raptor Aero and ForkLift bike racks include universal mounting hardware and will connect directly to your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe factory rack cross bars, no need for Mighty Mounts or anything.
T. Karp asks - Will the Front Loader work on my 2010 Nissan XTerra factory rack bars?
ORS Crew answers - Yes it mounts directly to the factory cross bars and is a superb choice for a 2010 Nissan XTerra bike rack.
Sandy asks - Will the Frontloader work with fenders on a bike?
ORS Crew answers - Yes this will work with most (if not all) fender configurations.
M-WIZ asks - Please make sure you are not selling the "recalled" version of the Yakima Frontloader bike rack. See this link: flrecall.yakima.com Could you please confirm on this forum that you are not selling these? Hopefully you are aware of the recall. Thanks.
ORS Crew answers - Rest assured, we only have new ones that are well past the recall notice. There was a small batch of FrontLoaders that were defective in 2010. These have all been replaced, returned to Yakima Racks etc. The issue has been corrected with the current generation of FrontLoaders now shipping.
