Stylish, Sleek, EASY
this Yakima HighRoller bike rack review by Jeff K.
vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Subaru Impreza WRX

I personally think the HighRoller is the nicest looking aerodynamic bike carrier there is. There is nothing that makes it look cheesy with the side panels it comes with to cover up the mounting bolts. Putting a bike on top or taking it down is as easy as 1,2,3..
Great Ease of Use
this Yakima HighRoller bike rack review by ColoradoOren
vehicle year/make/model: 2011 Subaru Outback
item(s) transported: bikes, cruiser and mountain
I like the Yakima HighRoller because of how easy it is to use. You pretty much just have to throw your bike up on the rack and lock the back of the front wheel in with the locking mechanism. It's really easy to change the height of the locking mechanism when you have bikes with different tire sizes. Moreover the locking mechanism makes me feel pretty comfortable that my bike will not get stolen (although a larger gauge wire would make me feel a little more secure). Installation was easy and it accommodates both my cruiser bike as well as my mountain mike without issues. Great product overall, I highly recommend it.
Love This Bike Rack!

vehicle year/make/model: 2010 Nissan XTerra S 4x4

I really love this bike rack and I get lots of compliments on how nice it looks. Installed very quickly and hassle-free on my Nissan XTerra factory rack cross rails using the Yakima MightyMounts adapters. Definitely recommend the High Roller bike carrier to others.
Improvement over King Cobra, but could still use improvement
this Yakima HighRoller review by jase
vehicle year/make/model: 2004 Honda Civic
item(s) transported: Specialized mountain bike
I used to have the King Cobra but I drove into a parking garage one day while my bike was on the roof and ripped my entire rack system of the car. Surprisingly my bike was fine, but the rack was mangled. I decided to upgrade so I went with the new HighRoller. It is pretty sweet. Definitely durable. It is easy to load, and the red knob that you spin to put tension on the front wheel is a huge improvement over the old, hidden knob. The coolest thing about the rack is that it lays flat when not in use. It still looks like a monster up there, but not as weird looking as the King Cobra looks. It works great and holds the bike real secure, but loading is still not as easy as it could be, and could be a problem for less than coordinated people. They're closing in on perfection, but aren't quite there yet.
Overall, Really Great Rack
this Yakima HighRoller review by jlane
vehicle year/make/model: 2006 Audi A4 wagon
item(s) transported: Back and forth between mtb and road bike
This thing is built like a tank and works great. I’m not sure how I feel about the red knob, which is supposed to tighten the support against the front wheel. I mean, I understand what it does, I just think that it is a bit of a hassle. Maybe I’m just nitpicking. But, once it is all adjusted it is really secure, so I guess the hassle is worth it for the security. One thing that is awesome, is how easy it is to adjust the rack so that it can work with different wheel sizes. I may be taking my road bike or my mountain bike with me, and switching back and forth takes seconds, which means of course, more time to Ride!
Good Idea, But Needs Refinement
this Yakima HighRoller bike rack review by Dave - Colorado
vehicle year/make/model: 2003 GMC Yukon
item(s) transported: mountain bikes
The High Roller is a good looking not quite perfect rack. The design needs work and does not match up to usual Yakima standards. The red button which is supposed to release the catch does not really work. My buddy has a rack and his does not work either. Also the base plate cover is a very tricky fit, basically just snaps on - this is more than cosmetic. If you loose this your are sunk; mine popped off and now the rack will not work properly. Under-designed for such an important part.

Tim asks - What is the difference between the HighRoller and the FrontLoader?
ORS Crew answers - Great question. There really isn’t much that separates the considerably more expensive HighRoller and the cheaper priced FrontLoader except that the HighRoller has a rear strap that can be accessed from either side of the bike tray. Unlike the FrontLoader, which will mount directly to factory rack cross bars, the HighRoller will NOT connect directly to factory racks however, you would need to use a set of Yakima Universal MightyMounts clamps with the HighRoller to connect it to factory rack crossbars. Also, while you can use a Yakima SKS lock in the integrated locking cable on the HighRoller to lock the bicycle to the HighRoller, you can’t simply use another Yakima SKS lock core to lock the HighRoller itself to the roof rack. You would have to also purchase a Yakima Lock Housing Unit to insert a lock core into. The FrontLoader, however, offers the convenience of simply using a Yakima 2-pack of locks to lock the bicycle to the carrier, via the integrated cable lock, and also the FrontLoader itself to the roof rack by inserting a lock directly into the front end of the carrier. Basically, Yakima Racks first released the HighRoller, then a couple years later realized they needed to offer a similar bike rack that connects directly to factory racks and will also optionally lock to the vehicle. The FrontLoader also uses the same very sleek low-profile bike tray as found on the fork mount style Yakima ForkLift bike rack. So really, unless you feel strongly about the need for a two-sided rear wheel strap, you will want to choose the cheaper priced FrontLoader bike rack over the HighRoller. And you’ll be gaining better security features and the ability to attach the carrier directly to factory racks.
