The HullRaiser Aero model will connect directly to factory roof rack cross bars.
The Yakima HullRaiser kayak racks (8004039) will do it all and save you some money if you plan to attach it to Yakima base roof rack cross bars or Inno Racks & Thule Racks square load bars. Does not attach directly to factory rack crossbars, we instead recommend the Yakima HullRaiser Aero kayak rack for this application. Alternatively you can use a set of Yakima Mighty Mounts (sold separately; see accessory add-ons below) if you ever plan to connect the regular Hull Raiser model to a factory installed car rack system.
Carrier uses a specially engineered J-cradle design that accepts virtually any kayak and supports it from the stiff, side area. And unlike kayak racks that transport the boat flat, the HullRaiser conveniently frees up cross bar space for additional Hullraiser or attaching other gear carriers. Two heavy-duty straps and a pair of bow & stern tie-down straps all included. - Yakima HullRaiser is compatible with virtually all kayak sizes and shapes including river-whitewater, tandem, sea-ocean, recreational, touring kayaks etc.
- Effectively cradles and protects your kayak with premium soft pads.
- Because kayak is carried on its side, it leaves more space on your base rack cross bars for attaching additional HullRaiser or other gear carriers.
- Includes two heavy-duty straps with padded buckles for secure transport. Also includes a pair of Yakima Bow & Stern tie-down straps are included for total transport safety.

We highly recommend the Yakima BoatLocker, Kayak Lasso, SteelCore locking straps or the Lashlock kayak lock system (all sold separately; see accessory add-ons above) to protect your boat from theft.
We recommend purchasing Yakima Accessory Lock Housing (not included; see accessory add-ons above) to lock HullRaiser to your base rack crossbars. Each Yakima Lock Housing unit requires one Yakima SKS lock core.
If loading kayak from the rear of the vehicle we highly recommend the Thule 854 Water Slide Mat (not included; see accessory add-ons above) for simultaneously protecting your vehicle and also gaining extra assistance when loading and unloading a boat.
