With a sleek & integrated look, the complete multi-purpose Yakima Lowrider roof rack system combines easy, intuitive use with unrivalled performance for car and trucks with factory installed siderails (side rails are the two bars located on both sides of the roof that run parallel to each other from the front to back of the roof). Yakima Lowrider Towers deliver a super fit on smaller european siderails, as well as very large rails including Nissan Xterra factory rails etc. We highly recommend a 4 pack of Yakima Locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock the rack to the vehicle.
The Yakima Lowrider complete roof rack system includes all 2 components that are necessary for installing a general-purpose base rack, providing the platform that will allow you to then connect roof mount gear carriers that carry your gear and equipment:

- Two (2) Yakima Cross bars (bar end caps included).
Can be locked to the vehicle using a 4-pack of Yakima's SKS Lock Cores (not included; see accessory add-ons below). The towers are great and easy to install. The only thing bad about the whole system is one of my end caps feel off a crossbar already. I suggest glueing them on or up grading to the strap caps that screw on.

Take it from me the Yakima Lowrider is built to withstand the abuse of carrying all kinds of loads. I'm the kind of guy that uses the roof rack way beyond what the manufacturer states the allowable weight load is. I have a cargo box mounted to the Lowrider crossbars and use the roof box to carry all kinds of stuff from the hardware store, I've even carried cement mix bags! I also carry ladders and use it for a canoe on the weekends. The Yakima Low Rider has never failed me yet. I'm not sure if the Yakima round bars are stronger than Thule square bars (I've read stuff online about both Yakima and Thule claiming to be stronger) but I can tell you the round crossbars from Yakima can handle it all!
Lowrider Made Me a Roof Rack Convert

First of all, I was the last guy that wanted to use a roof rack on my Saab 9-5. I don't find them to be all that attractive and I always hear stories about them making noises when rolling down the highway. So when I found out I needed an after-market roof rack to mount to the Saab 9-5 factory side rails so I could attach a ski rack, I really took the time to find the model that would work the best on my side rails, would have the best low-profile appearance and no wind noise either (by the way nice job on the Lowrider car rack video guys!). I can now say I'm a roof rack convert. The Yakima Low Rider looks very sweet on the Saab 9-5 and doesn't make any noise either.
