The 04037 Yakima Mako Saddles Kayak Rack has a universal form fitting cradle that fits snugly to all types of kayak hulls. Very flexible when loading a kayak then firmly grips for a super secure hold during transport. Yakima Mako Saddles kayak rack now includes Yakima Mako Pads too, allowing for easier sliding of kayak into saddles and also premium kayak hull protection. Connects directly to Yakima base rack cross bars, Thule square load bars & Inno Car Rack crossbars. Also when used in combination with a set of Yakima Horizontal MightyMounts or Universal Mighty Mounts (not included; see accessory add-ons below) the Mako Saddles will connect to virtually all factory rack cross bars, Thule elliptical Rapid Aero bars & Xsporter truck rack bars etc. (Yakima Mako Aero Saddles include universal mounts for attaching directly to factory racks.) One Yakima heavy-duty strap and one Yakima Bow/Stern tie-down strap included with each pair of Mako saddles.

Connects to virtually all factory roof rack cross bars when used with the optional Yakima MightyMounts adapters. If loading kayak from the rear of the vehicle we highly recommend the Thule 854 Water Slide Mat (not included; see accessory add-ons above) for simultaneously protecting your vehicle and also gaining extra assistance when loading and unloading a boat.

Also when used in combination with Yakima Horizontal or Universal Mighty Mounts (not included; see accessory add-ons above) the Mako Saddles will connect to virtually all factory rack crossbars and Thule Racks elliptical Rapid Aero bars. We highly recommend the Yakima BoatLocker, Kayak Lasso, SteelCore locking straps or the Lashlock kayak lock system (all sold separately; see accessory add-ons above) to protect your boat from theft.
We recommend purchasing Yakima Accessory Lock Housing (not included; see accessory add-ons above) to lock Mako Saddles to your base rack crossbars. Each Yakima Lock Housing unit requires one Yakima SKS lock core.
