The Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack Kit (8000140) is exactly the same as the regular Yakima RailGrab roof rack system but with a much friendlier sale price! The RailGrab Kit is a complete car rack system that includes four RailGrab Towers and a pair of 58" length cross bars. Designed to fit any style of factory side rails (the two rails located on both sides of the vehicle roof top that run parallel to each other from the front to back of the roof). Fits flush and raised side rails alike, even fat, oversized siderails.
The Yakima RailGrab roof rack kit includes a set of four RailGrab Towers and a pair of 58 inch cross bars. The 58 inch length crossbars are by far the most popular length used on vehicles with factory side rails. Also the Yakima 58" bars are the best length for all sorts of gear carrier configurations. For example, 2 kayaks fit superbly on kayak carriers mounted to 58 inch Yakima bars. A cargo box and bike carriers are another great set up on 58" bars.
With two sets — large and small — of provided “claws”, the RailGrab will grab onto any kind of factory siderails with an iron grip. Aside from its versatility, the RailGrab keeps the crossbars tight against the rails providing a sleek, integrated look. It installs in seconds with a turn of the included Allen wrench and even has a hidden, integrated pocket in the Tower itself to store the wrench when you’re done! The ORS website made selecting the rack for my specific car and what I'd be carrying so simple. It was just as easy to assemble the rack on my car once I received it in the mail (which came quickly) with the helpful instructions. The rack is rugged and has been great for carrying kayaks (my main use). I would highly recommend ordering products from the ORS website. I've heard Yakima Racks was a good brand to get which turned out to be true. I'm also glad to have just come across this website where I got my order at a reduced price compared to other competitors. Overall, awesome service and product!

I chose the Railgrab because it does not just strap around the roof rails. The adjustable grab feet securely clamp the backside of the rail. This will not leave a visible mark on the roof rail when removed, and makes for a cleaner look. They could remold the bracket to be more aero, but it sure looks durable. The internal mechanism is very solid, and you can easily remove and replace the rack (after initial setup) in 5 minutes.

The rack system works great and can be adjusted to fit almost any factory rails. It is heavy duty and am sure it will last for a long time.

I bought this rack because I already had the bicycle racks from a previous Yakima roof rack system. Since I already had a Yakima rack system before I knew the quality would be great. However, I was skeptical about how easy the installation would be, but it really was SUPER easy. My husband and I had it installed in less than a 1/2 hour. Great racks! I cant wait to buy the add-ons for transporting a canoe. Lastly, buying from ORS Racks Direct was the best way to go. It took right around a week to get the racks. Had no problems with the ordering process or anything. I will be back to order from them again!

Ron asks - What is the difference between the Yakima RailGrab roof rack system and this Yakima RailGrab roof rack kit? I see no difference in all the verbage besides the price. I have a 2011 Jeep Patriot with factory side rails. I will be adding a base rack system and a gear basket.
ORS Crew answers - The RailGrab Kit is exactly the same as the regular RailGrab roof rack system, except that the RailGrab Kit specifically ships with a pair of 58" length cross bars (you do not get to choose the length cross bars as you can with the regular RailGrab). Thus the RailGrab Kit is a better deal! The RailGrab Kit is a superb choice for a 2011 Jeep Patriot roof rack (mounts right to the factory side rails. Even though you could use the shorter 48" cross bars on the Patriot, unless you are very concerned about a little extra cross bar length sticking out on each side of the vehicle, definitely go with the Kit and save some money.
845Flier - I have the Yakima RailGrab Kit (8000140) that I took off my old vehicle, and want to confirm that it will fit my 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe. The Santa Fe has factory roof rails and cross bars. My goal is to carry (2) kayaks, and (1) thin cargo box, at the same time. Will this be possible on this vehicle/rack. I was considering the Yakima Bow Down kayak racks.
ORS Crew - The RailGrab Kit fits your 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe side rails nicely and is a great choice for your configuration (your factory crossbars would be too short for this set up). The BowDowns are a great match with a narrow box placed in between them such as the Yakima RocketBox 11 cargo box.
Travis asks - What's the weight limit on this rack?
ORS Crew answers - The weight limit is 165 lbs, or possibly less depending on your specific vehicle. You can determine your vehicle's rooftop weight limit by checking the vehicle owner's manual or using our Yakima Racks Fit Guide and on the final step of the process it will provide the weight limit in the 'Fit Notes and Measurements' section (which for this roof rack system will be either 165 lbs or possibly less depending on what your vehicle's rooftop weight limit is). The total weight of the Yakima RailGrab roof rack kit (including all four RailGrab Towers and pair of 58" crossbars) is 11.5 lbs.
