The all-new Yakima RailGrab Roof Rack System will amaze you with its versatile ability to fit any type of side rails (the two bars located on both sides of the roof that run parallel to each other from the front to back of the roof). Whether your vehicle has raised siderails, oversized, or flush rails, it doesn’t matter anymore, because the Yakima RailGrab roof rack is designed to fit them all! Yakima Racks engineered the Rail Grab Towers to eliminate the hassle of figuring out which multi-purpose roof rack system was compatible with your specific vehicle's style of factory siderails. No worries now, simply slap on the Yakima 8000138 RailGrab Towers and crossbars to your side rails. Forget about having to figure out if the Yakima Lowrider Towers, Lowrider MAX Towers or EZ Rider Towers are required for your automobile. The Rail Grab Towers handle all applications these previous Yakima factory rail rack systems were designed for.
Now you can just go with the RailGrab and get down to the business of racking up your ride. With two sets — large and small — of provided “claws”, this baby will grab onto any kind of factory rails with an iron grip. Aside from its versatility, the RailGrab keeps the crossbars tight against the rails providing a sleek, integrated look. It installs in seconds with a turn of the included Allen wrench and even has a hidden, integrated pocket in the Tower itself to store the wrench when you’re done! Conveniently universal, this is also the best choice if you plan on ever switching your roof rack system between different vehicles. With patented technology, the RailGrab will grab onto your raised, oversized, or flush rails and refuse to let go. We highly recommend a four pack of Yakima Locks (not included; see accessory add-ons below) to lock the rack to vehicle.
The Yakima 8000138 RailGrab complete roof rack system includes all 2 components that are necessary for installing a general-purpose base rack, providing the platform that will allow you to then connect roof mount gear carriers that carry your gear and equipment:
- Four (4) Yakima 0138 RailGrab Towers.
- Two (2) Yakima Cross Bars (bar end caps included).
Easy-to-follow Yakima Rail Grab installation instructions manual included. Can be locked to the vehicle using a 4-pack of Yakima Racks SKS Lock Cores (not included; see accessory add-ons below). Broadest range of fit — compatible with virtually all side rails from raised to oversized to flush. Lower profile provides sleek, integrated look. Included claws grab hold of siderails with an iron grip. System installs in seconds with a simple adjustment. No additional tools needed. Yakima RailGrab system can be installed or removed without disassembling the rack. Can easily transfer to other vehicles with side factory rack side rails too. Yakima Racks Lifetime Warranty!

RailGrabs Are a Solid Investment
this Yakima RailGrab roof rack review by Merrill Hissock
vehicle year/make/model: 2005 Toyota RAV4
item(s) transported: 2 road bicycles
I didn't actually need a roof rack. I can carry two bikes inside my Toyota RAV4 using a homemade fork rack. However, there are some disadvantages to the interior rack (e.g., the necessity of removing a back seat from the RAV4), and a Yakima CopperHead roof rack was gathering dust in my garage. So I ordered the RailGrabs from ORS Racks Direct, which offered the best price I could find on the Internet. The RailGrab Towers were easy to install and they seemed to be rock-solid when attached to the factory side rails. I was impressed with the quality of the construction, which would seem to justify the price. Flimsy and cheap are not good options when you are attaching heavy objects to the outside of your vehicle. The instruction manual was clear. Working alone, I had the RailGrabs, the dusty CopperHead rack, and SKS lock cores installed in little more than an hour. I think the RailGrab is a well-designed and high-quality product, and I was completely satisfied with the way in which ORS Racks Direct handled my order. One more comment--unless you are as tall as an NBA center, you probably should acquire a short stepladder if you want to install and use RailGrabs and a roof rack on an SUV, even a small one.
RailGrab is a Real Beauty
this Yakima 0138 RailGrab Towers review by Jefford Scott
I still can't believe how easy it was to install this on my Toyota Sienna siderails. All I had to do was connect the Claws to the RailGrab Towers and then put them on the Sienna factory rails and tighten the knob on each Claw then use the allen wrench to do the final tightening of the Towers. I'm really happy with the setup. I use it to carry a couple of bikes and a kayak sometimes. Very sturdy and absolutely no movement whatsoever as of writing this. Hats off to Yakima Racks for dreaming up this beauty.
Allows Me to Use One RoofRack on 2 Cars
this Yakima 0138 RailGrab Towers review by Kayak4Life
This is exactly what I needed to be able to use one roofrack on two cars. I have an older model Subaru Forester with flush siderails and a new edition Subaru Outback with regular raised factory rails. The RailGrab Towers are perfect for quickly switching the car rack between both cars. It takes a little time to adjust and tighten the Towers each time I switch it out but the savings in not having to buy 2 systems is worth it to me.
I am Very Pleased!
this Yakima 0138 RailGrab Towers review by Mike in Maryland
I just purchased Yakima Rail Grabs, Fork Lift, Wheel Fork, and several components. The entire experience from beginning to end was excellent. ORS Racks Direct customer service was top notch (I had even e-mailed with a question and received a call with the answer within the hour - amazing!). Everything was shipped immediately and showed up as requested. I’m very pleased - this is my first purchase through these guys and certainly will not be the last.

Tina W. asks - I have the Rail Grab roofrack mounted to my 2004 Ford Explorer factory side rails and want to transfer the rack over to a 2008 Subaru Outback that also has factory side rails. Do I need any other components to do this?
ORS Crew answers - You will be able to simply transfer the entire RailGrab roof rack system over to the 2008 Subaru Outback side rails. No need to purchase anything new.
S.Ramsey says - Just wanted to follow up after receiving my Yakima RailGrab order... I placed my order over the phone and the ORS Racks Direct rep was professional, helpful, and courteous as he assisted me in the decision of which rack to purchase. My order was shipped the day I placed it, and the product arrived in perfect shape. This is exactly what I look for when doing business with a vendor, and ORS Racks Direct is a company that I will recommend online, to friends and to my family. It should go without saying that they will be my rack source.
BudNJ says - I purchased this car rack from ORS Racks Direct and I incorrectly specified the wrong bar length and they reached out to me to see if I really want what I ordered or get the correct length for my car. I'm pleased w/ my purchase and I'd definitely do it again.
Cindy asks - I need the luggage bars (cross rails) for my 2007 Suzuki XL7 factory side rails. I want to attach gear carriers to the luggage bars. Is this the right rack for the 07 Suzuki XL7?
ORS Crew answers - Yes the RailGrab with 48 inch cross bars is a great choice for a 2007 Suzuki XL-7 roof rack. It attaches to the side rails, and you can then connect any gear carriers to the crossbars.
Lorraine asks - I have a 2003 Subaru Forester and am very confused on which rack system to use. There is no space between the roof and the side rails that are on my car. Your complete Thule 440 system for Subarus which I almost purchased looks like the side rails on the roof are on feet with a space in between? Also wondering about the Yakima RailGrab system as an option? Thanks.
ORS Crew answers - Both the Thule 440 and Yakima RailGrab systems are excellent choices for your 2003 Subaru Forester flush side rails (meaning there is no space between the side rails and the vehicle rooftop). By the way, don't be confused by the picture of the Thule 440 rack mounted to the raised side rails, that is just an example of the many different vehicles the 440 rack works with.) For the Thule 440 system, you will choose the 'SR1 claws', as these are designed to mount to your flush side rails. For the Yakima RailGrab system, you will use the 'small claws' included with the system for attaching to the flush side rails. The Yakima 48" length cross bars are recommended for the 2003 Subaru roof top, while the 440 rack includes a pair of 47 inch cross bars.
