Yakima has finally solved the issue of loading / unloading a kayak or canoe (ladders & lumber too) pain-free and no double hernia! Introducing the Yakima ShowBoat Roof Rack Roller System (8004040). First things first, the Yakima ShowBoat includes universal mounts enabling the roller system to fasten directly to virtually all factory rack cross bars as well as any aftermarket roof rack bars including Yakima round bars, any Thule load bars and Inno crossbars. Secondly, the Yakima Show Boat works seemlessly with virtually all kayak racks and canoe racks, whether transporting a boat flat, semi-vertically in a j-cradle style carrier or completely on its side with a kayak stacker model. Attach the roller system on top of the roof rack crossbars when using in combination with kayak racks and below the crossbars when using lower profile canoe racks such as Gunwale Brackets or Load Stops. So easy to use, the Showboat simply slides out as far as you need it to clear the rear of your vehicle. Place the front of your boat (or even a ladder & lumber etc) onto the roller and roll the canoe or kayak right up and into position on the kayak rack or canoe rack. Finally retract the Yakima Show Boat roller system into its stored position and you are all set!
PLEASE NOTE: A pair of Yakima crossbars are required for use with the Yakima Showboat to serve as the extension bars. The Yakima 66" bars are the recommended length for most configurations.

The addition of the Yakima Show Boat made loading the kayak on top of the Honda Pilot possible. There was no way I could get the boat on top of the Pilot by myself. I also use the Thule Hydro-Glide kayak rack that I already had mounted to the Thule 450 load bars to complete the installation and effortless loading of my kayak. The Yakima Show Boat is yet another great addition to the Yakima Racks line.

ORS Racks Direct Demonstration Video & Review featuring the 8004040 Yakima ShowBoat Roller. Movie includes Yakima ShowBoat Roller review, product demo, features etc. A lift assist device that mounts to virtually all factory racks as well as any aftermarket roof rack crossbars from Yakima, Thule, Inno etc. Simply extend the Yakima ShowBoat roller out over the back end of the vehicle, then place the front of the any kayak or canoe (or ladder, lumber or other long load) and then lift the rear of the boat and simply slide the kayak or canoe into position on the roof rack. Recommended for use with any kayak carriers, canoe racks, general purpose load stops & more to allow one person to effortless load and unload. When finished, just retract the Yakima Show Boat roller back into its stored position. Also requires a pair of Yakima crossbars to serve as the ShowBoat extension bars.
