Worth the Money

This really is a good rack. In our ongoing saga to ride rail trails all over the country we needed a rack to haul 4 hybrids from Virginia to Nebraska. We chose this rack for its obvious features and were not disappointed. Even though we exceeded the weight max the rack did a great job. Two observations - if tubes are close together it can take some maneuvering to slide over the bars and straps and as with any rack bikes with racks/bag mounts can pose an issue. All in all, though, this rack is sturdy and does the job.

At first I was uncertain if spending this much money on a hitch bike rack would be worth it just for the swing away feature, but make no mistake after using the Swing Daddy just once I knew I made the right choice. Getting to the back of the Explorer is absolutely effortless evern with all the bikes loaded onto the bike rack. And the construction is rock solid too. No play in the hitch receiver, no squeaking in the hinges or difficult knobs or levers to operate. Yakama Racks definitely got it right with the Swing Daddy. Installing the rack was easy but use your own wrenches as the one supplied by Yakima wasn't very good. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this hitch rack to anyone that plans to use it regularly and has a need to ever access the rear of their car when the rack is on.

Happy me is right! Once I installed the SwingDaddy, which took no time at all by the way, I've never had a reason to remove it since. It's a permanent addition to our minivan. I can't tell you enough how amazing it is to finally be able to open the rear car door whenever we want whether the bikes are all loaded on or not. I've had other hitch bike racks and I'll be the first to tell you how old it gets to have to pull a pin or something and tilt the rack down (and that's after you've taken all the bikes off) just to get into the back of the car. I recommend the Yakima Swing Daddy to everyone!
